Worst Day with My Z
I took my Z06 to the dealer for the 'wiggle test' and it failed.
Had them remove the heads and I shipped them to AHP
Upon the return the dealer reinstalled them
I have less than 700 miles on them and yesterday dropped an exhaust valve, hit the piston and trashed the motor!!
Apparently the valve keepers came loose on multiple valves
I have a phone call into AHP but there is a different time zone so I'll wait and let the group know

I bet the dealer forgot the lash caps. Try not to let them anywhere near it until you can check it.
I just noticed you said exhaust valve. No lash caps there. Are you sure it was an exhaust valve?

The timing of the failure soon after install certainly raises questions about the install.
Good luck with a timely resolution.

OP, were the heads AHP's standard package #4, or were there changes made such as retaining OE valves (vs F2042p), etc.?
Is the block salvageable, or do you need a whole new motor?

The issue in this thread was an installation error.
The installing shop left of the intake valve lash caps and the rocker wore down/ate away the soft titanium valve tip till it wore past the keeper thus dropping an intake valve into the cylinder bore.
Customer Sent us some pics... Always get pics they prove who is at fault!
In this case it was the installing technician/dealer who left off the intake valve lash caps.
Pics:
Prof of no lash caps on the intake valves
Clear cut case of intake valve lash caps left off at installation.
Always make sure your intake valve lash caps are reinstalled before installing your rocker arms.

Ugh. Real sorry to hear this. How could they possibly forget the lash caps? If that is true, they owe you a motor. The Ti intake valve tips will not last long without lash caps. Did you hear anything abnormal prior to failure?

Ugh, exactly why I refuse to allow anyone to do major work on my 427. Still looking for a great Indy here in Northeast FL. Sad to hear. I hope all is quickly resolved. This should not be your problem.
