Default Z overheated...

so a few days ago I was driving home and in traffic I hear a warning sound & noticed on the dash to turn the car off, coolant temp was at max 260. I turned the car off right away, 10seconds later light turns green and I drive the car for again about 10seconds and shut it off..rolled into a parking lot.

started inspecting what was going on, noticed abit of coolant leaking from the reservoir, checked both upper and lower rad hose were hot for circulation.

I let the car cool off to about 195, started it back up, slowly temp was creeping up and the fans weren't turning on, so decided to check if fans spin freely..noticed it was jammed just ABIT..like it needed a little force and then it spun free.

Turned the car back on and fans were working.

Drove the car back home, drove fine, temp was fine and no issue the following day.

Now im wondering did I just get lucky or I could've possibly damaged something?

(Few weeks ago I changed the heads & 160 thermostat, headers etc, not tuned)

You are fine.. but I'd find out why the fans were not working.

The computer prevents damage to the motor in this case.
A few years back in 2004 I bought a brand new Duramax that overheated from day one.
I tried to destroy the motor but the computer prevented it every time.
GM finally bought it back and got me into a 2006 that was redesigned for cooling problems.

Your fine.
They can take more than 260 without damage.
