Default Stuck lifter... Now the upgraded 7.7

I was driving on the way to an autox event and heard some ticking. Pulled over, pulled the valve covers and found a rocker loose. So I trailered it home and pulled the head only to find a stuck lifter.

We got it out by pulling the cam and pushing it back thru but the lifter bore needs to be bored and possibly sleeved if I wanted to reuse the block.

I really dont have much time to do that (in between events and im currently halfway thru a series) and even though it would have been the cheaper route Most likely I would have had them bore out the block and put bigger pistons in anyway...

So Im pulling the motor and putting a giant 7.7 468 in it. They guys started on assembling the motor yesterday and will be ready by next week. Also we will be putting a new center-force clutch in as well as a ported msd intake manifold, 52lbs injectors, a nick williams 102 throttle body, a dewitts radiator, new oil cooler, katech oil pump and a new cam.

Bore/stroke combo?
Which block are you going with?
Cam choice?
Should make sufficient power!

So its a HPR short Block 4.185" bore and 4.250" stroke. All custom. Nothing they use is off the shelf all built to there specs. Same with Cam they are running numbers today to come up with the cam specs.

What heads will you run? Will you go to 2" LT's (if you don't already run them)? Ported MSD...Mamo, or ??

Sorry for the misfortune...I enjoy following your threads and your use of unique parts combos. I'll be sure to follow this one as well.

For now to save money I will reuse my WCCH Heads I recently purchased. The intake will be a ported msd with 52lbs injectors

HPR is a local Texas company. It's a regular LS block they use ls3 blocks and send them out to get re sleeved to bore out to spec.

I know Erik. I sent me nephew to SAM when he was teaching....

Didn't know he was getting back into the business. Glad to hear it.

I know you are going to be very pleased on the new powerplant in the Z. Of course HP on an engine of this size is going to be limited by the heads and smaller 1 7/8 headers but it is for sure going to be a much needed boost over what was in the car before. I know the build wasn't exactly planned at this point, but a good foundation is what matters!

<--- We are HPR!

The 468 is the largest we can do within the dimensions of a stock LS/LT engine block currently. Using a tall deck RHS, or Dart we can go as large as a 527 cid

Thats a good question. They have someone making a little over 740ish to the wheels but thats with bigger heads and carb set up. Im thinking with my heads and msd intake being the limiting factor we could see 650 or a little more to the tire its hard to say but we will find out very soon.

-not a carb setup, but a more traditional style carb intake manifold...but they are still fuel injected. Those are typically much larger cylinder heads, Jesel shaft mount style valve train, 1500+cfm throttle bodies, and would require some hood modifications to go in a Corvette currently. A current FAST or MSD just does not have the air flow to support that kind of power with these big engines.

We are going to be doing a lot of testing with the 468 engine platform in a couple of local cars, one a BMW and the other a C6Z06 that will be the test bed for intake/head/cam development.

As time progresses we are very much planning on doing a number of in house designs more so than just the lower end of the engine and expanding into intake manifold designs because of the HUGE demand for air these big engines demand.
