[Z06] Gearbox can be scary

Gearbox can be scary
Hi there
new owner of 2012 z06 which I have imported into NZ. Drove it for 1600 miles across US from Kansas to LA to be shipped.
When warm at low speeds gearbox in 123 is quite noisy. Shop says square cuts gear so get used to it. Is this right? But love the car. Intoxicating!
Cheers Richard

IF you've access to a good HP shop w/ solid tech(s) familiar w/ C6 in & transmissions in NZ, sure w/couldn't hurt taking it in for an inspection.
Last thing needed is causing further damage, if its preventable.
First time hearing this 'symptom', though.
I've 56K (miles) on my '08, shifting's always stiff when cold until fluid heats up. But, never any noise...beyond LS7's valve chatter.
For the hellovit get it checked just to be sure, an expert c/would know what sounds/feels right & what doesn't.
Several CF members from AU, and they say a vehicle cannot be lic for street use unless RHD. Cost to convert isn't for the faint of heart either, IIRC was $25K USD.
Obviously NZ doesn't have same requirement, right?

Is this an original gearbox? They are generally relatively quiet. They are, at least, consistent with other GM manual transmissions in terms of noise.

No straight cut gears besides reverse. Should be quiet in 1-6.

As others have stated, reverse is straight cut and 1-6 are helical. Shifting is always "stiff" if transmission fluid temp is below 160 or so. The only time the forward gear whine might be noticeable is if the sound insulation ras been removed. Is there an aftermarket shifter? Might be worth pulling the shift boot to see if the plate and sound insulation is still there.

Burning Brakes
There is a common rattle problem with the stock shifter. I checked my warranty claim work, part number is 25823572. There's a bulletin. See https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...t-already.html
