Best Drag radials! For dragstrip
Hey guys I know I made a thread of this before but it was a bad one. So I bought a set of c4 zr1 rear rims with 50mm offset, I know it's the wrong offset but that's all they had. I also bought a set of Hoosier dot 2 drag slicks 275-40-17. What's you're guys opinions on my set up? Should have I gone wider?
What is the set up you guys run out there for best times.
Thanks any info much apriciated!

Melting Slicks
I run a 17x11 rear wheel with Hoosier DR2's 315/35 17. Plenty of guys running sub 1.5 60 ft times on them. A few experts have gone under 1.3 sec.
I don't think that 275 is going to give you what you are looking for. Maybe a 275 on a 15" conversion.

I really liked the Hoosier Drag Radial original DOT tire, they did well for me.... but it was discontinued and replaced by the DR2.... they were horrible on my car. All I did was slip and slide on them.
I switched to the MT ET Street R and like a light switch, problem solved. Incredible tire.... really is. I 60 ft high 1.2's to low 1.3's every pass. In my opinion, and many other racers, MT is the king of radials.... maybe not the bias ply slicks, but definitely Radials. They put a lot of R&D investment into them.
I race a lot... I'll go through 4-6 sets of drag radials per year.
Good luck with whatever tire you choose.

I don't know what you consider decent, but I'm consistently in the 1.48-1.52 range with 275/40x17 and only 394 dyno hp. I have a couple friends that are in the 1.50-1.54 range I have them on 9.5" A-molds aka C4 ZR-1/GS fronts and CE's. The friends use C5Z fronts. I don't have a clue how they'd work on an 11" wheel, nor know anyone who uses an 11 with a 275.

If you are a manual then talk to the manual guys who race.
No comparison otherwise.
...and alot depends on type of clutch.
Stock clutch likely go with the narrower tire but ask the c6z manual guys.

The 275/40/17 Hoosiers on a 17x9.5 C5 Z06 rim is/was the gold standard to measure against, and is still probably the most widely used combo for guys 550 or below. An inexpensive, light weight wheel combined with a light weight drag radial that gives you a bit of extra gearing (being only 25.5" diameter new). The 315/35/17 would be the next step up and can be run on a 17x11 rim, but the overall weight is a bit higher on this combo if you use repo wheels (they weigh quite a bit more than the OEM wheel).
I went a 1.51 on a stock clutch and stock engine with the Hoosier 275/17x9.5 combo years ago, to the tune of 10.98.
Beach Bum brings up a new wrinkle with the Hoosier DR2's that I haven't heard about, and the M/T's have been getting rave reviews from both street and track guys.
The thing you need to be careful of, if you're ET chasing, is over tiring the car.

Better to go narrower wiht more sidewall than wider with a stiff short one.
There are guys going 10s on a wimpy 235/60/15 more isnt always better. If you keep a set for the track dont get caught up in how they look, just function.
Less tire=less rolling resistance.
Been real happy with M/T they drive decent stick well car feels stable.
