Default 2008 C6 Z06 Nitrous Build

Good day all. I have been meaning to post about my recent nitrous build and I'm just now getting around to it. I posted about the engine build a while back and below is a account of that.

The Goodies!
Vengeance Racing/LME 440 short block 11.8:1 comp. Ended up being around 12.1:1 once done.
Callies dragon slayer crank
Callies 6.125 forged H beam rods
Wiseco forged and coated pistons
Vengeance Racing Sumbitch Cam
Katech red oil pump
ATI 10% under drive damper
Katech C5R timing chain set
Tony Mamo ported trick flow 265 heads milled to 68cc combustion chambers
Tony Mamo ported MSD intake
Tony Mamo/Johnson lifters
Tony Mamo/yella terra rockers
Ferrera titanium intake valves
Tony Mamo/Pac .675 lift springs
Tony Mamo supplied exhaust valves. Not sure what brand exactly. If he chimes in he can provide details
Nick Williams 102 drive by wire throttle body
Halltech cold air intake
Vengeance Racing stage 5 package minus the parts supplied by Tony Mamo
ARP hardware throughout top and bottom
American Racing 2" headers
American Racing off road Xpipe
Borla ATAK axle back exhaust
RPS BC2 twin disc clutch and alum flywheel
Tuned on 93 and MS 109 by Vengeance Racing

On 93 it made 614rwhp and 542rwtq
On MS109 it made 632rwhp and 559rwtq

Above was all done in November of last years. Fast forward to April of this year. I contacted Vengeance Racing about adding nitrous to my car. We talked about what I want to do and came up with the build below.

Nitrous Outlet Direct Port System fitted to my MSD
2 gallon dedicate fuel cell mounted in the truck to supply the nitrous with C16.
Lingenfelter timing retarder box
NOS progressive controller
NO nitrous switch panel mounted in the ash tray
Heated bottle bracket

Car has three different jetting for the nitrous. 150, 200 and 300 shots. The 150 shot is the one I run most of the time. Below are the numbers for each jetting.

150 hit - 748hp. This is with 93 in the cars fuel tank
200 hit - 800hp. This is with C16 in the cars fuel tank as well
300 hit - 943hp. This is with C16 in the cars fuel tank as well

This thing is a monster and I can't be happier with the results. Everyone that had a hand in this thing was truly a pleasure to work with. I'm sure I'm missing a few things so feel free to ask questions if you'd like and I'll do my best to answer them. I could talk cars all day. lol. I'll try and post some pictures here shortly.

Cheers
Chris V

What made you decide to use a trunk mounted fuel cell instead of the one offered by Nitrous Outlet that fits in the engine bay ?

It looks like the LME 440 "Nitrous" shortblock uses the stock LS7 block and sleeves ?

I just thought the tank in the trunk looked cooler. lol. As for the short block I was told that it was a OEM block but with the internals and build process it be good for up to 1000rwhp. From doing research since I've come to learn that 1000k is pushing it on the LS7 block. So I don't plan on running the big shot often. Just on special occasions and if it happens to go boom I'll step back and punt. lol. The plan is to go LSX in the future. I feel comfortable on the 150 and 200 shots so I'll play around with those the most. Cheers

My short block was recently rebuilt too.....Weisco coated pistons (12.0:1) with ring gap set for nitrous, upgraded steel tool wrist pins, OEM crank and rods, full complement of ARP hardware.
I also have the WCCH Stage 2 heads, milled .030, OEM head gaskets, with ARP head bolts.

I plan on a 150 with an occasional 200 shot, using the Nitrous Outlet MSD plate system and engine comparment tank. I'm on E85 (actually E54 here in Phoenix), and will use MS109 or C85 in the dedicated fuel cell.

You plan on running any 1/4 and 1/2 mile stuff ?

There isn't a 1/4 track within 3 hours of me. We only have a few 1/8 mile tracks around where I live. I haven't been to the drag strip since I got the nitrous installed but do plan to go a few times just to try it out and have a little fun. I ran my first 1/2 event this past may. It was the wannagofast event in NC. My nitrous program on my NOS controller got wiped out when I had some battery issues the week before the event and I didn't know that until I got there so the nitrous wasn't activating. So I only got to make motor runs. I went a best of 162mph in 95 degree heat. I thought that was ok but not the greatest. My engine temps were over 210 and that was pushing it to the staging line. Maybe a little cooler weather and I could get a little more mph out of it.

Sucks about the NOS program getting wiped before the event. Dd you run the event with the new engine in place ? What tire were you running ?

I ran a best 162.999 standing start 1/2 mile on 315/35/17 Hoosiers back in March here in AZ, running up to 7300+ RPM. I have a few aero tweaks to do before the next event on October and will run a taller tire as well. Probably won't be on the spray yet but I've got most of the parts sitting in the garage now.

Your system and the install Vengeance Racing did is top notch as always. Your car is making great power!!! We always love to see how happy our customers are with our products and like see their results. I am sorry to hear that the controller settings got wiped out. Your car will for sure pick some MPH up when you go to spray it. If you ever have questions feel free to give us a call. If you would like to submit pictures, videos and time slips as well to us we would be glad to showcase them on our FB page. We love to showcase our customers cars and their results.

Def sucked! I was really hoping for like a 170-175mph pass. It's all good though. Crap happens sometimes. Yeah I was on the built motor. I'm running the stock rear rims with Nitto NT05R's. 345/30R19's. They do ok but I was still spinning like crazy threw first gear. my next mod will be the 15in rim conversion and a set of 15" welds. I def need some sidewall to keep the traction under control on the spray. If I roll into it on the 150 shot in second gear it spins but not uncontrollably and hooks up right about the time I'm going into 3rd. If I run the spray from I dig I do a 1st gear lock out so it wont spray until I go into second gear which helps a little with the spinning.
