C6 Z06 years
Hello,
In the past I had a C5 z06 and very love it.
Now I'm looking to buy a C6 Z06 and I would like to have your opinion on wich year is the best and why? Is there some differences?
Canadians models because I'm from montreal.
Thanks

A few threads on here about the slight differences throughout the years, but they're all very similar. The "best" C6Z in my mind...the 2011 Carbon edition. Essentially a ZR1 with an LS7; but you'll pay a premium for that car, and the only drawback would be you have to like one of the only two colors it came in.

in 08 they get the TR6060 instead of the T56
in 09 you get to pick the full line of colors
other than that and the above mentioned carbon or Z07 package they are essentially the same.
carbon was limited/numbered edition that came in supersonic blue and inferno orange came with carbon ceramic brake rotors (about half the weight of cast iron) and carbon fiber roof panel and hood. better radiator factory x-pipe that deleted 2 of the 4 cats and magnetic selective suspension.
you could get a Z07 in 11-13 that gave you most or all of the things above depending on options but as mentioned above youre going to pay a premium.

Burning Brakes
2006 was the lightest and fastest and is also the cheapest to buy right now. However, I believe the interiors got a little nicer on the later model years and you have controls on the steering wheel whereas the 2006 does not.

Thanks everybody!
Very helpful. I wish I'll find a great deal on a '09 and more but I will be very happy with a 2006 too.
Magnetic selective suspension should be great.
Thanks a lot

Steering wheel controls came in ~08 I think.
3LZ, CFZ, etc were not available on early years.
Seat covers changed in later years.
Later years have water/oil cooler instead of air/oil.
That being said, buy the newest nicest one you can afford. The differences are all so minor (besides carbon brakes, etc) that they are barely noticeable, or so easy to add you can just customize the car yourself.
The comment of 08+ shifting better is very debatable. A lot of people disagree with that, including me. I know 3 people who swapped form a 06-07 tranny to a 08+ and all say it shifts worse.

I chose the 08 for the TR6060 tranny. For the record, the TR6060 is notchier in the a.m. when the fluid is thick - my Shelby did the same (same tranny) . a few miles later, they are very smooth.
My other choice, as I wanted red would be the 09 for the Torch red vs. my 08 Victory red - I like both reds depending on outside conditions. What I'm not clear on is axles, read that the 09 (and later 08) have stronger axles?? For what I do, I'm fine though.
Good luck

..........also, don't get hung up on 'canadian' models, they are all built at the same place in the u.s., buy a new oem GM Canadian cluster programmed from U.S. Speedo and you're good to go.

Have you tried Amsoil Torquedrive in the trans? It will take care of that notchiness when cold in most cases.

I too use Amsoil Torque Drive in my Z06 (2010)trans and in my previous 2007 Z51, both for over 30,000 miles each and found it to be a little stiff shifting until warmed up but smooth after it warms up. Will still use it.
