Default Add another Mamo HCI build to the list...

I finally got my 2011 Z06 Carbon Edition done. What started out as a bolt on project and fix the heads turned into just a bit more. As has been stated here before Tony was very knowledgeable a was easy to work with. I had DR Motorsports do the install and the tune. This set up didn't make the numbers others are posting but DRM said their dyno is "stingy" and everyone knows dyno's will be dyno's.

The car made 598HP and 498TQ. I know they had some issues street tuning the car due to the lighter clutch setup. It has some issues in the lower RPM range and Tony says the issues should be able to be tuned out. I've talked to Pat G (per Tony's advice) and he is going to help me get it smoothed out just as soon as my HP Tuner software gets here.

This car just doesn't like to go slow. It is crazy loud and just sounds mean. It has one hell of a lope.

Here is the parts that DRM installed with before and after dyno sheets(which are hard to read, they supposed to be getting me some with a different layout):

MMS 265cc Trickflow Heads
Cometic .040 Head gaskets
MMS Custom Cam 242/256 114+3
Manton Custom Length Pushrods
Johnson short travel lifters
Yella Terra MMS Ultralite Shaftrockers
MMS ported MSD Intake
NW102 Throttle body
Halltech CAI
ATI Damper
Bosch Injectors
MMS Ported ZR1 Oil Pump
Katech C5-R Chain
MMS RPS Lightened BC2 Clutch with Katech Remote Bleeder
ARH 2” Headers with High flow Cats coated with Cerakote

I had already installed the Katech valve covers and coil relocation kit as well has relocated the evap purge valve and cleaned up the plumbing a bit.

Before:

After:

Here are a couple pictures of the engine out of the car:

And back in:

And here is just a couple pictures of the car:

Couple of questions:
1) the manifold port in the back is that what you hooked the purge system thus not needing it in the front;
2) the hose going from the oil tank to the front that would normally go in accordion thing in front of TB is that now going to the front in air cleaner area?

1)The evap lines go to the exact same spots as before. I moved the purge valve back by the firewall and rerouted the evap lines and the electrical plug.

2)Correct. I drilled a hole in the top of the air cleaner instead of the connector hose between the throttle body and the air bridge.

Beautiful car and garage! Are you running spacers on your wheels?

Thanks! No spacers. The original black ZR1 wheels had a quite a few rock chips and I found these new take off Cup wheels so I swapped them out.

They look good! Almost flush fitment that's why I asked, I've been kicking around some Cup's or Forgestar's when I'm due for tires

Curious...did you try to fit the beehive on your car with the Halltech CAI?

I did try and it didn't drop right in. It's going to take some trimming.

I'll do it this winter when I take the front end off to open up the NACA duct and probably put a vette-air in.

I'm just happy the air bridge fit because Jim said it wouldn't. You just have to shove it down as far as it will go. I clayed it and had about a 1/4" of clearance.

Yeah, I had always heard it was a "larger radiator" issue, but maybe its just a shroud thing on the Carbon/Z07 cars. I have an '09 C6Z with the MF103 intake; and a couple years back I upgraded to the ZR1 radiator and oil cooler setup. My OE radiator shroud mated up just fine to the ZR1 rad, and my MF103 w/beehive dropped right back in without incident.

Ryan,

Congrats on the results.....beautiful car and just as impressive work space!! Kudos....I love all the detail being a bit of a fanatic myself!

Couple of questions I can answer.....the SCR is 11.58 to 1 and the cam is a 242/256 on a 114 LSA....fairly stout but not what I would call very aggressive.....especially with my high air speed port design to help clean it up some....my stuff can swallow some healthy cams due to the higher airspeed in the more efficient port designs......helps reduce the negative effects of reversion from larger performance cams! (harder to change the direction of a faster moving column of air than a slower moving column of air....the higher speed charge has more inertia to overcome).

At some point I would love to see this combo on a different dyno.....the fact you have low torque numbers and a huge spread from TQ to HP (100 HP more than TQ) tells me this combo is doing exactly what it should be and the torque is just reading low on this particular dyno.....everything else is based off the same. If you rolled 520 TQ on a different dyno you would see 620+ RWHP etc. etc. I know you plan on doing some work with Pat G. on the tune.....if there was another local dyno to baseline it on first I would be interested in that "data point"....be interested to see the A/F ratio as well.

Anyway....we will continue to discuss this privately.....in the mean time enjoy the car.....it must be a blast to drive with all the extra power!

Im curious how much timing they have in it now as well....I suspect its very soft and they let you out the door with a really "safe" ultra conservative tune.

Enjoy the new ride!

-Tony

Beautiful setup. Never seen the MSD painted anything other than black. Looks real good.

Stout setup as well... Can't wait to have the money to work with Tony on a head/cam combo.

Thanks! I'm glad I went with "aluminum" look. With the SSB valve covers and the black NW TB, black powder coated fuel rail, alternator bracket, (I'm waiting for my black anodized Billet Tech alternator) it just helps brighten the engine bay up a bit.

As others have said, you wont regret working with Tony. The parts and service are definitely worth the money.
