Default Calling all moderators, will the Z06 thread search be fixed?

I have PMed two of you with no reply. Anything older than May 2017 is now unsearchable.

Is there anything in the works to correct this?

In addition may I ask why was the merge instituted in the first place?

Agreed...the search function is essentially useless for us C6Z owners post merge. I've been a supporting (paying) member for some time now...inaction on repairing matters such as this makes me rethink that.

Some "SMART" person decided to merge two distinctly separate models and make a mess of things.

And now has chosen to ignore all the complaints of members asking it be restored to what it was.

And the lack of any comments by the ADMINS usually means its a subtle "SCREW YOU".

But what can we do, its obvious they will not be un-merging anything, because the person who decided to do this will not want to be found at fault, so it will continue to be a mess because a poor decision was made and the decision maker has no desire to admit they screwed it all up.

Just my $0.02 cents

I just played with it a bit and it sucks- as in doesn't work. Lovely.

Is anybody going to even respond?

yes, the merge blows - please separate them again. Maybe if we post some 'other' car beating a Z, then they'll read it but probably just remove it altogether.

I'm fine with the merge; it is what it is...but the search function (or non-function) is just plain terrible. For us C6Z owners, its essentially 10 years worth of information which is inaccessible through the intended process that was specifically designed to access such information. Did they even bother to test the functionality of this type of a merge before they rolled it out? Absolute bush league.

Maybe they hired the guy that was overseeing QC for the LS7 cylinder heads and this was one of his 1st tasks?

Paste this over on the "for sale" forum excluding a price, I bet you will get a response asap.

I use Google now as this site is screwed up. And Google does a pretty good job looking for Z06 specific stuff on the forum but also sends me to other forums where they get my clicks. So they are losing money on the deal and they didn't even save anything with the merge. Irrational except for cleaning up the home page, really?

I don't know if this happens to anyone else, but for the past several days I get a broken link when I click on "C6 Z06" in the right hand side bar. However clicking "C6 ZR1" gets me here.

We aren't all here 24/7, if you had used the contact us link at the bottom of the page instead of PM'ing 2 people someone would have got back to you sooner.

Have you tried the Help Forum?

In the meantime let me see if we can get someone to address your concerns/questions

Sometimes issues like this take a bit of research to find out what is going on...... The tech issues are beyond our scope but we are trying to get a answer/fix. The HELP section does have tech people monitoring

Tell us who you sent your PMs to and we'll follow up on that. The site's admins and moderators are volunteers who donate their time for the benefit of the community. They aren't required to keep regular hours as if they would if they were doing their work her for pay. My recommendation would be to send your PMs to all of the moderators listed for the section where you have an issue. At the bottom right on this section, for instance, you will see these people listed:

DebRedZR1, pewter99, Allthrottleandsomebottle, Tact, johnodrake, crossram

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...questions.html

As to your questions:

... why was the merge instituted in the first place?
The question has been addressed several times in the section. I found this link by using the search function:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1594926409

... Anything older than May 2017 is now unsearchable.

Is there anything in the works to correct this? ...
I'm not clear on what isn't working with the search function and, therefore, what needs to be fixed.

Using the method mentioned in the above-referenced link, I've just done several searches in this section, getting results dating back much further than May 2017 on each of them.

I searched for "McBride," one of the Wixom engine builders and got 162 returns between 10/23/05 and 5/29/09.

I searched for "vibration" (something ZR1 owners have complained about) and got more than 500 returns dating from 11/9/13 through 7/9/17. The software will return no more than 500 search results. If I had wanted to go back further than 11/9/13, I would have had to narrow the search by time frame or user.

I searched for "Blue Devil" and got more than 500 returns dating from 12/21/07 through 6/25/17.

I searched for "valve guide" and got more than 500 returns dating from 3/27/11 through 7/9/17.

What are you searching for and how are you conducting the search that you are not getting anything before the merger of the two sections? Let me know via PM and I'll be glad to check on it.

Several of you have PMed me some specific examples with links on posts/threads that exist, but that don't show up on a search.

I've been able to search for and get hits on Z06 posts/threads that were made before the merger, but the examples show that not all posts/threads in the database are showing up on searches. I don't understand why that's happening, but have forwarded the examples to the tech team. Thanks for the help.
