Default 07 Rocker Arm Questions

My new to me 07 Z06 has the infamous 5/25/07 build date. And so the original owner broke a rocker arm and then had installed the Comp Cams trunions that all the forum threads have convinced me need to go. The car has a mild cam so I can go with the stock rockers or I found these captured bearing ones from ZZP. Did a search and found no threads so has anyone used or heard of these?

https://zzperformance.com/lsx/zzp-ro...iABEgK39vD_BwE

And I have no idea if the owner replaced any of the other rockers when the trunions went in the rockers or what even exactly breaks on the factory rockers. Soooo if this idea works do I need to start with new rockers even to use this kit?

Thanks for any help.

Steve

You don't need new rockers....yours are fine to rebuild. As for the kit you linked to, they look identical to the comps, so I'd personally pass. My recommendation is CHE.

No need to guess, Steve.
Take VIN to a GM dealer, request a GMVIS.
Learn what was done while under warranty.

IIRC needle bearing issue w/ early build '07s had a recall.
Most owners let GM replace defective part(s) and there'd be a record of it being done & you'd know what was/wasn't done under warranty.

Now if aftermarket items were used it's unlikely a GM dealer was involved so it'd not be listed.

But, one way or the other you'd confirm what was done & by who.

Thanks guys! I have checked for outstanding recalls and only the low beam headlight one remains. I went ahead and bought new rockers this morning from GM as at under $200 compared to my other cars that's quite a deal. Just tooling around in it for now and saving pennies to build a new race car motor at this time.

^ If you bought new GM rockers, I'd just leave them as-is...wouldn't bother with a trunion rebuild right now.

I did and agree. The cam is like a 625 total lift and it's making 537 RWHP.

thanks

I have an 07 also, bought CHE from WCCH. Very happy with them. My next option would have been the stock one's.

I have an 07; how do I determine my "build date" and what issues I may have with rockers?

Thanks, and sorry if this has been asked.

I looked in the right front fender well and found the date in white chalk. A Chevy dealer can tell you too. Apparently there is a recall so a dealer may do it for you. I did not know that until the post above.

It's not worth leaving them in there. Too hard to tell if they're going to go bad or not. New ones don't cost that much, go get some. Very easy to change them out yourself.
By the time you know yours are bad it's usually when you have needle bearings on your magnetic oil drain plug. Just don't go get another kit that has needle bearings, same issue it seems with them. Either buy a solid bushing kit you can do yourself or get a set of CHE rockers already done from WCCH. CHE also has a bushing kit you can DIY.
Good luck.

Production dates are on the plate located on the door/jamb, you can see it when you open the drivers side door. I'm also positive it's in the Vin number.

Thanks, my door jamb says 02/07. Wheel well chalk, I'll be darned, it is still there as 2/1/7.

I'll watch the oil plugs as mentioned here. Anything further is going to have to live in the service agreement realm for a while.
