Default Low cammed 09 z numbers?

09 with 28xxx miles. Ahp heads fixed no port work or anything. Stage 2 btr cam kit, halltec cold air intake and hooker blackheart 1 7/8 headers with tune. Only put down 509 whp and 480rwt. Car runs a drives great and pulls hard but i am a lil discouraged by the numbers. It made 455 and 430 with just cold air intake. What u guys think? Dyno jet as well tuned by blue cat so, was really hoping for 520ish and 500. Hmmmm

Picked up 54 rwhp...seems respectable. Ported MSD or Fast intake with your combo would add an easy 20-30 hp more depending on which intake you go with.

Yeah the ported msd would be a great addition im sure. Not really looking to port the heads at this time as i may do forced induction in the future. So with the baby cam and headers it doesnt sound too low to you guys?

I have a BTR 2, non ported MSD and WCCH ported heads, Kooks LTs, CAI and put down 538/501. My tuner left it with a conservative tune, drivability and longevity were my main goals. I've seen guys post 500-560s with BTR 2, hard to compare since the dynos can vary and used primarily as a tuning tool. You stated it drives good and pulls hard, so that's all that matters. Your baseline dyno to after gains are definitely respectable, better to have a less than expected dyno number and great driving car imo.

I have a small comp cam and did 513/480 on 91. No ported heads or MSD or TB. Like you I was hoping for more but love the way the car drives and plenty of power. Just want a high number because it sounds better lol.

Take it as a 'real' number with a properly calibrated dyno.

It does drive great for sure. Also screams pretty good up top. Only got to race an ls3 c6 from a 10 roll and 40 roll and put prolly 15 or so cars on him to 140mph. Not sure if it should have been more or not as i never did race the guy pre cam.

A dyno is just a tool. Tools can have different calibrations.

Treat each modification like a science experiment, use the same tool (dyno) when you can and always do before and after runs. Typically 2 or 3 of each to establish an average so there are no outliers when you are doing the tests. If you want to compared to others, again compare as to what the change was, not the final number.

Don't sweat it too much. All dynoes, conditions and calibrations are different.

I have a custom cam with specs almost identical to the BTR 2. With a MAMO MSD and NW102 and Kooks headers, my car made 556/487. But the numbers didn't mean much to me. I wanted driveability and a little bump in power. I got both and I'm happy.

Just drive and smile man!!

Pretty solid numbers, particularly if you didn't mill the heads by any appreciable amount.

A Mamo MSD and a NW102 will likely have you in the 540/500 range. There are also a few horsepower difference between header designs. I know ARH is typically worth 5/5 over Kooks of the same diameter. You're one of the first cars I've seen with the Hookers. Not worth the headache to chase a few ponies. You could swap to two piece rear rotors with aluminum hats and pick up 10rwhp if 520 is a sticking point.

Not really hung up on the number, just was looking to get some input as to if it were typical or not at where I am for what I have. Sounds like it is a typical gain for a small cam for whats in the car, for that i am happy. Thanks for all the input.

No port and no mill. Numbers are not bad considering that.

all you gotta do is change altitude on the dyno and you can swing your horsepower numbers which ever way you want.
and dont think it hasnt been done to make a shop look good.

but 55hp sounds about right for cam and headers.

Alright then sounds good. Am going to look into a mamo msd and nw 102 just for an extra bump.

At your level of mods and goals, I would skip the NW102. I only pick up 5-6whp in small window with it and I'm over 600whp. The NW102 will also not help when you're FI. I'd do Mamo MSD and call it a day. If you want more, get some good headwork done (port and mill).
