Not really, I was just factoring in $2,000+- to get it fixed. So having said that, I guess it was a factor, but not a deciding one. I'm using that $2,000 on a warranty instead of having to use it to get the heads repaired.

I honestly felt the GS would be more fun overall, because I could drive it hard without being at astronomical levels of speed. And I guess in the price range in which I was looking it was '10-'13 GS's vs '06 & '07 Z06's - I felt a bit more comfortable buying a slightly newer car. Also, I was pretty impressed with the GS's performance in comparison, not as fast, but still not THAT much slower.

Lastly, I found a Grand Sport (6 speed) that I really fell for - it's beautiful (at least to my taste), and when I saw it and drove it, it just felt like my car.

As long as you're happy with your decision, that's all that matters. If the mod bug ever bites, just go straight to a eForce or Magnuson heartbeat S/C. Fits under the factory hood, stock driveability until you mash the pedal, adds ~150 rwhp to the car.

Sounds like a great car! And I assure you it is no slouch. There is a member on these forums that has an essentially bone stock C6 GS (other than suspension and brakes) that is a buddy of mine. He tracks his car regularly at Watkins Glen with me, as well as a number of other tracks. The car performs fantastically and not many keep up with him. He even gives me a run for my money and I am easily bringing 175whp+ more to the table. I even have video of him passing me on the track, which rarely happens. Happy to post it up if you want to see it.

Also, I would love to see pics of this new beauty of yours! Please post them up when you have a chance. Enjoy! It is a hell of a car.

I'm hoping that bug doesn't bite at least for awhile. Thank you for the recommendation, though. I'll look them up and bookmark them just in case.

I'd love to see the video, please post it when you have time.

Believe me, there will be more than a few pictures posted once I get it home.

I just picked up a near perfect 07 Z06 last week, totally stock for $31K unless a tune has been applied I don't know about. It took less than a mile to know the 427 is amazing. I had a 15 Camaro 1LE, and when you start tracking the car and pulling big G's on track, I would never buy another car w/o a dry sump. I had a lot of friends that had the same basic mods and had their motors ventilate some just driving around town. I'm getting ready to buy set of steam rollers and slicks and with the weight of the Z and the traction of wheels and suspension it should be amazing. Compared to track prep'd cars, the z is a marshmallow around town to me. I will look into the heads now I have insight to that,

I'd love to see that video, just to see that it can be done.

Here is the video. He passes me on lap 2 around the 4 minute mark. Bone stock GS. Then I chase him for a lap or so and pass him. He is right behind me for most of the rest of the session. We like to stay together on the track so there might be a few more passes of other cars. His name is Terry and he is a great driver. Drives the hell out of his GS. Real good guy too. He usually posts in the Road racing section. GS is no slouch.

And ignore the brake light on the video. Vette doesn't transmit brake pedal pressure through the OBDII so the program is trying to guess when I am applying the brakes. It is usually pretty accurate but for some reason in this video it was off.

I had a LS2. It was wonderful.

Now I have a LS7.

Get the LS7. There is no substitute for the power and sound from that engine.

I know there are other ways to get there, but I absolutely love my LS7.

Great video, it looks like a lot of fun. Hadn't really planned on tracking mine, but after watching that.....

'09 C6Z here...Got my AHP heads under GMPP warranty, and no other issues besides handling that.

Did they perform a wiggle test and then approve the heads?

In reality, the full potential and performance capability of any C6, regardless of the production variant, is beyond the driving capability of the overwhelming majority of C6 owners.

Yes, GMPP approved my claim after their field rep saw my car at AHP.

I know we lowly Grand Sports aren't supposed to show up over here, but I had to conclude this thread that I started. Below are a couple of pics of the car. I had it transported from Florida - the top one is when it got here (Dallas), and the second pic is from yesterday when I finally got to pick it up.

Details: 2010 GS, 19k miles, 3LT, 6 speed, Crystal Red, Gray & Black two tone interior.... Also bought a 5 year/75k mile "bumper to bumper" warranty, so it's good to go.

Thanks for all y'alls help on the decision. Love it!
