You’ll be a lot more comfortable in a C6Z vs a classic car. More performance for less work and money
i really REALLY want a pro touring 69z. But I wouldn’t trade my ZR1 for one if values were equal. The one thing the old muscle cars have going for them is they gain value, whereas every time we take our cars out they depreciate slightly.

Like me most people in this thread I’ve owned a ton of cars from a 57 Chevy police car, 67 Chevelle, 72 Datsun 510 etc etc. and currently have a 86 Buick TType and 87 Grand National.

Perfect world would be a 69 Camaro sitting right next to the ZR1.

i sold my 69 Chevelle and bought a new 2011 Z06. No regrets. It had a 548 ci big block that ran high 10s. But at 130mph it was scary. Gulped gas at 7 mpg, couldn't stop it even with disc brakes, cornered like a truck. The Vette with bolt ons and a tune also runs high 10's with the AC on. I keep going past the trap to 150 and can still easily slow before the turnoff. And get over 30mpg hiway.

Fortunately I can enjoy both. Pretty much just use the old muscle (71 Hemi Cuda) for car shows. I use the Z06 for daily driving. This isn't the best picture because the color is kinda washed out - looks much better in person.

It's a ton of fun with 600+ hp all aluminum 482" 427 side-oiler. Old school's fun too!

Meh, the only thing old muscle cars do well is look cool. I'm surprised they still hold value like they do, .....that will likely change as there become less baby boomers.

Well I have 2 cars a 1965 540 CID Chevelle that does 550 to the tire and weighs 4,000 pounds with driver and a 2006 Z06 that does about 610 or so to the tire and weighs 3,400 pounds with driver. With the 60 more rear wheel HP but more importantly the 600 pounds the Corvette is quicker. Now the Chevelle has an overdrive and some better steering and better brakes so it is not a bad driver I do like the Chevelle's automatic. Two very different cars. Not sure how fast your current car is but if it is just a general muscle car you will not be disappointed with the Z and it is very easy to add 100 hp and still keep good drivability. At 150 hp gain some of the drivability begins to go away - NA. Blower cars have more flexibility in this area. I agree with guy above my Chevelle, I get comments all the time the Corvette not so much (other than it sounds good). If you do decide to change I think you will be pleased with the switch. Once you do get it you will need to figure out what you want to do with car from keeping it stock to adding a bunch of power - but remember keep it drivable. Once the car becomes a pain/inconvience to drive you've gone too far.

I guess I'll chime in. I'm a product of the muscle car era and have been a gear head since the late 60's. '58 Chev 348 and installed a 4spd, 65 tri-power GTO, sold to my brother (he still has it} so I could buy a '70 Judge. Met and married a gear head with a '69 Firebird Sprint. She sold it and also bought a ' 70 Judge. Bought and sold a '68 435 hp 427 Vette. Sold both Judges (DUMB), bought a '73 L82 Vette to take to Europe. Sold to a German and ordered "the last true muscle," a '76 Trans-Am 455 later sold to buy an '80 turbo diesel Scout (no muscle but stout) Scout totaled. We are restoring a '68 Scout in its place. Restored a '65 300 hp 327 Vette, sold to buy and restore a '66 350 hp 327 Vette. Sold it to buy an '02 Z06. Sold it to buy an '08 Z06 (for sale). Now own a '16 Z06, Z07. Somewhere along the line bought, restored and still own a '70 GTO Ram Air Coupe and a '70 Judge and a '73 L82 Vette. This list is not inclusive as we have 2 adult boys who are also gear heads and I've not listed their vehicles.

I say keep them both! 1970 Chevelle Ive had half my life, sold the 396 when I was young to finance a 454 build(no regrets). I just got rid of my 06 Z06 and replaced it with this keeper! There has been a lot of great muscle cars over the years but to me these 2 are the book ends to that great 40 yr span! So if you can make it happen get creative and keep them both. God Bless America!!!!

I love my 06 Z but if you got the classic bug then RestoMod is the way to go. Old body, new gauges an electronics, modern engine an tranny. My dream car is a 69 Mustang Fastback with a 03-04 Cobra motor with a Whipple or Kenne Bell upgrade. 600 rwhp an a daily driver.

Our Z06's are depreciating as fast as a fat kid can down a double cheese burger. Certain old muscle cars or classic 50's cars completely numbers matching and restored can be worth hundreds of thousands. If you can't appreciate some of those cars you are not a car guy.Sorry. New stuff is just look what I bought. Big deal. Yeah the LS3 motored resto mod cars are still a big thing. Just watch Velocity.

Sold my 68 RS/SS Camaro build for drag racing in 2003. Miss a lot of things and good memories. Had that car for HS grad in late 80's. Sounded like a 9 second car but ran mid 11's with a 355. 4.88s 4500 stall. Yeah went crazy for weight reduction etc... looked good. always got looks. Will scan some pics from the old days. lol

Havent gotten it down the track but its pretty strong;383 with compressinon 230cc head 260/268@050 SR ported single plane 6 spd 4,11 etc drivebaility is actually pretty good. To be honest Ill miss the ratty nature of it
Getting carried away obviously is an issue.

Ill have to take a ride not sure Ill be happy with 505hp but if I could get a solid mid-high 4ss at the tire pass smog that will do for a driver
I dont care about value at all. if I dont have money I wait, spend it so I get what I want...not once in 26yrs has value vs spending crossed my mind (and certainly not a guy of means) but this thing collects too much dust. Want something I dont have to store or worry about replacing cause some texter was on FB
Vettes are a dime a dozen, to redo this one not so easy

keep them both
not in the cards financially, Id have to sell one to purchase the other
