Default How to open up C6 Z06 front scoop?

I would love to open this up I think I can probably figure it out but I'm hoping that you guys might have some pictures of your own work or maybe a write-up someone did in the past.

Dang man, what happened to your paint?

As for the direct airflow to the intake, you may create MAF turbulence issues if you're on stock tune.

It is actually “open” but not much. You can cut into it with an angle grinder as behind that little section of plastic is aluminum.

Opening it will create more issues than it helps.

Look up my thread which I think is called NACA duct is cut open. Don't do it unless you are speed density tuned.

I drilled a few holes in it to let some air into engine bay....something about creating more lift on the car at high speeds is the reason it closed...

Correct, that scoop is for high speed stability not for the engine.

I have mine opened up but not all the way. I grinded off the black plastic material but left the actual bumper alone. I'm still on stock intake and use a beehive.

I have a fully opened NACA duct. Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of the process but do have a few of the supporting mods pictured. As mentioned opening the NACA duct will amplify surge at every speed and will require more tuning or switch to speed density. I opted for a ton more tuning. I also opened the lower portion and sealed the air box to avoid over pressure under the hood. The engine must eat the air as it has no where else to go now. Tested to 164.47mph in the 1/2 mile.

Unrestricted NACA duct:

More than the NACA duct was opened here:

The sealed air box:

At the same time I ported the intake. Before:

After (look at the far end of the runner to get an idea how much port work was done - this engine eats air):

Vette Air scoop is a better option, IMHO.

ok, I was thinking more about more airflow if I install larger heat exchanger that may block much of the grill area.

It's an air intake duct that directs air from the bumper opening up into the air intake region.

all links show repeated same series of pics......wish you had more detail on scoop/induction tube/air box & how you opened duct
My 2011 G.S. has tube from bumper scoop to stock air filter. My induction tube is not air tight(uses fasteners)
AHR headers/ AHR X-pipe/bi-mode mufflers/ Redline Performance tune/430 RWHP/ 11.8 sec @ 116 mph
Nice work on your ZO6 Mr. Procovich

Pulls air from here:

Directs it to intake here:

IIRC Southern Car Parts is a dealer of them.

Did U experience any driveability issues, surging etc. after opening up that NACA duct? If that NACA duct (nose scoop) is for high speed stability did U notice any changes @ 165 mph?
