Default Low Dust Pads. OEM are killing me!

Just got a nice set of very expensive forged wheels. Any they look great right after the car is washed but after a short drive they are covered in brake dust (the wheels being black doesnt help). As far as I know OEM pads with 16k miles on the car, never been tracked. Anyone else experience this?

What is a good low dust pad that still stops decent? Tired of cleaning my wheels every time I take the car our.

PowerStop Z26 pads have worked well for me. They are a carbon fiber and ceramic mix. I purposely changed only the front pads to Z26 and left the rear OE pads, to see the difference. After a few days of running the Z26 pads I washed the rear wheels (which were filthy) and in 1 more day they were about as dusted as the fronts were after many days using the Z26 pads. Given that most of the braking is handled by the front, it's a huge difference.

About $90 per axle. If it makes a difference to you, they are padlets, not full pads.

Carbotech 1521 or Powerstop Z26. No brainer. Both are good pads and low dust for street.

1521's or Z26 are the best options...just depends on your preference and budget, as there is a significant price difference.

Full ceramics have no business on a world class sports car. They reduce the stopping power of the car, they will fade if driven hard, and they are too damn hard on the rotors. You'll need new rotors before the pads are worn out.

I just went through this exercise. Went with the Z26 pads and new rotors. The amount of dust reduced is very significant. Car stops just as good as before too. I went with Centric rotors. Bought everything from Rockauto. About 600 if I recall.

Yes, if you want a quality low dust pad I would recommend the Carbotech 1521 pads. 100% made in the USA. Non-corrosive dust will not harm your wheels or paint.

You can take a look at this PDF http://netwelding.com/Ceramic_Pads.pdf

The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non-corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.
