Z06 LS7 and magnetic drain plugs
Can someone enlighten me if a 2011 z06 LS7 has magnetic drain plugs factory stock for the engine, gearbox, and diff, and if not what sizes do I need to buy.

From search:
I just got 2 magnetic oil plugs from Autozone (Part # 65372 - M12 x 1.75). Had to look up under 2007 Corvette parts, as the magnetic ones were discontinued on later models (sometime during the 2008 run).
----
I got my magnetic drain plugs for the two oil pan drains at a local auto parts store like AZ, NAPA, o"riely etc.
I have never heard of magnetic drain plugs for tranny and dif. On the dif, drain is the line to dif cooler, so would not work there.

I have a 2011 Zo6 and they do not come with any mag plugs. The oil plug is available easily in magnetic at parts stores. The trans and rear come in magnetic also but I had to search and one of the corvette parts companies had them. On the rear diff it will be on the fill hole plug as noted above the drain is the cooler line. Very happy I have had them in since new because there is always grey metal sludge on them and some filings.

Got some time to dig through my factory manual and found an answer to my own question as far as the trans and diff go. They both have circular magnets inside the cases part #8 in both drawings.

That was about 7 years ago now and If I remember I bought the trans and rear at two different corvette vendors?

What I have been doing these last years on all my new cars is Neo magnets which are ridiculously strong. The thing to make sure of is that the magnet does NOT protrude too far into the case. So I research the exact dimensions of my plug and use a flat or cylinder type Neo Magnet (which once you put on I challenge you to try and pull off) and for good measure I use a little JB weld, which is made to take heat, as my glue just for sh##s and giggles. I have been doing this method on several cars for about 7 years and while doing my fluid changes no issues movement or dislodging of the magnets. (you will see what I mean about strength when you get one). This works on all iron metal plugs of course.
I know what you mean about the wrong plug coming on one of them, as it happened to me with the trans I think?
I will still look to see if i find it in my paperwork but the above is superior as i have learned.

Thanks for that link - I will order.a few and make my own plugs for the next fluid change.
Dan Kyle used to do the same thing on the superbike motors he would build for me - pull the pan off and there was a magnet JB Welded to the bottom. Worked well, always a bit nervous about it coming loose, but it never did. Good idea..

Yeah, i have a few spare mags from old hard drives (I use one on the end of a tie wrap to fish out the drain pkugs during oil changes).
