Default Re Dry Sump system: what parts of 2009 is better than 2006?

a friend of a friend is selling the dry sump system from a 2009 z. I have a 2006. I know the tank is larger but beyond that, is any other part an upgrade for me?

Oil pump, etc? And what all would I need to get from his set up to make work for mine?

Basically just the tank was changed. The oil pump is the same. If you don't plan on tracking the car than your tank is fine. The issue that developed was high speed long left turns with cars that had suspension and tire improvements. The oil pick up in the oil pan became uncovered. The increased capacity of the 09 plus tanks helped solve this issue.

I do plan on tracking the car quite a bit so this is an upgrade I am looking at making.

It seems that the oik pump is a higher volume pump in the 09's possibly to handle the piston squirters.

But not sure if it would bolt onto my motor without changing other items (cover, gear??)

Incorrect. The LS9 engines got the increased oil pressure oil pump due to the squirters. The 09 and up Z06s do not use that pump.

You never mentioned if his 09 Z was a ZR1 or Z06.

Some people swap to the LS9 pumps in their early dry sump engines if the engine was rebuilt with loser bearing clearances. The LS9 pump will fit under the stock cover without any mods but you must upgrade the gear to the later LS9 gear. Different part numbers.

Another worthwhile upgrade is the trap doors that can be added to the oil pan. http://www.improvedracing.com/oil-pa...fle-p-675.html

Aviaid makes great stuff for the LS7/LS9 dry sump system as well. Tank inserts, pan baffles... http://aviaid.com/shopsite_sc/store/...s-z06-ls7.html

The 2009 and later oil pans have 3 or 4 bolt holes for the later water / oil coolers they started using around that time. The bolt holes are on the drivers side in the middle of the pan if you were looking at it from the side of the car.
