Default DIY Plastic ABS Splitter protector for ZR1 CF

Seen a bunch of DIY threads about people cutting Sheets of ABS plastic to protect their splitters - want to try this for my CF ZR1 splitter. Mine is the APR type that is flat bottomed.

Anyone here do one and have any suggestions before I spend a day frustrating myself and/or going to the ER with a missing digit.

Thanks in Advance

Are you possibly talking about the custom under trays and splitter extensions that road race guys put on their cars for more frontal down force, but with the added byproduct of protecting the original ZR1 splitter better ?

Something like this in ABS. Maybe protrude 1 inch or less no rods or anything like that.

Just to protect the Carbon Fiber ZR1 splitter not add down force etc.

Protect makes a product for the C7 Z06 splitter but not for the C6
Splitter

I would just wrap it in clearbra and hope for the best. Or if its an OE CF unit, replace it with a less expensive replica to take the beatings instead.

I am replacing my LGM spoiler and these things just end up taking a beating that clearbra is not going to withstand. Los Angeles has some terrible driveways for gas stations/stores and homes that I need to protect the new $900ish APR spoiler from.

I would consider it more of a damage multiplier than a way of protecting things. ABS doesn't have much give at all. If you catch it on something you are taking it all off with it. I would much rather replace a spoiler that has a crack or gouge than to replace the splitter and bumper because I ripped out all of my mounting tabs.

Hiro,

I don't have anything to work with the APR splitter, but I do have a C6 splitter that fits the grand sport and Z06 cars, that is almost indestructible. Here is a link to the Intro thread here on the forum.

Dirk Stratton has been running one of our parts on his drift Corvette for almost the entire season, and it still looks almost new.

Lost my factory splitter 3 weeks ago at 180, for a split second thought I blew a tire. Splitter exploded into 30 pieces, not fun. I think I will slow down!

If you drive this level of speed, you may be a good candidate for this one

The LGM splitter is very stout and exceptionally well made - much better than teh stock GM unit. I have that on the car currently but it has so much road rash that it was more cost effective to replace it. That is why I want to add this ABS splitter to protect it.

That looks like a great solution but I unfortunately already have the APR ZR1 splitter. I think if you guys made a product like this you would sell a ton.

Thanks

Should I assume this splitter also needs the front bumper brace for speeds in excess of 130 mph?
