[ZR1] 17 GS to ZR1?

I came within a heartbeat in selling my '12 GS for an '11 ZR1 with 6,000 miles, this past summer. It seemed like going backwards, year wise.
But the main reason I passed was because I couldn't take off the top. I normally only drive convertibles, but with the top off on the coupe it was almost like having a convertible. It was a really mint car though.

OP, I came from an ‘04 C5Z to a 2010 CMG ZR1 3ZR in 2015. I bought it with 9700 miles and now have 40k on it. Most fun I’ve ever had in a car with my clothes on. Nothing pulls like a ZR1. If you drive the beast before you buy it, you will be one of the many to trade you asked about in your own ?

I've been to Bloomington Gold 3 times. First two years I saw one other ZR, third year two others. There are 1000's of Corvettes there and dozens C7 Z06's. IMO they are timeless. I think you will be happy with it!

Hey guys. Considering trading my 17 GS in for a mint 2013 ZR1. Car is pretty much flawless with 3200 miles and a clean carfax. Options include black factory cup wheels, red stitch and microfiber seat inserts. Lots of C6 experience having had a 12 cent GS vert and 2012 Z06. Always wanted a ZR1, but couldn't pull the trigger at new car prices. Love certain aspects of the C7- namely the interior. The GS is a wonderful car (mainly interior upgrades), but the C7 exterior styling has always been a bit love/hate for me. So many aspects to consider and I know that this is a biased group, but how many would trade a cream puff owned since new 17 GS for a ZR1?

The C6 ZR1 is still the best Corvette made so far. We'll see if the 19 ZR1 changes that. The 15+ Z06 did not.

I have a feeling the OP will be sold after doing one pull in the ZR1. Sometimes my lowly c6 z06 still feels pretty quick and I know the ZR1 has way more torque and will straight up run away from my car.
I have been purposely avoiding driving a ZR1 because I'm afraid I'll go home with one. Still love my Z06.

I have never seen another ZR1 on the road. I like being part of an exclusive club with only 4600 or so members that appreciate this car.
And yeah, the car is a blast to drive and turns heads every time I take it out.

Don't read too much into the track performance, the reality is, given equally skilled drivers, nobody is pulling away from the other like some would have you believed. It has been my experience during HPDE with a track friend who runs a c7Z06 and I run my C6Zr1, both stock at the time. We are pretty equally capable drivers and, in either case, took our best A game to keep up with one another....I also have another friend that has gained a couple seconds going from a c6Z51 on slicks to a C7Z51 on radials. There are improvements no doubt but I think the gap of performance is wider from a base C6 to a Base C7.
No comparison in acceleraltion between 450hp GS C7 vs 638 Zr1...you'll have to unglue your eyeballs from the back of your sockets

I guess I should have driven the ZR1 before deciding I wasn't going to trade my GS for one.
I think the GS is really fast, and I've never used all the power it is capable of. If I had a ZR1, I still wouldn't have. For me, the fact you couldn't remove the roof, made it an easy decision to keep my GS.

I did it for a short while. I've owned a few ZR1's and tried the C7 Z06 and as nice as it was I really missed my C6 ZR1 so I went back to a ZR1 and, for me, I haven't regretted it for a moment. Others may feel differently. The below shot was pick up day on the Z06. Can you guess my favorite color???

I had a '12 Centennial GS that was supercharged. A6 car. It was faster in a straight line than a bone-stock ZR1. But... unlike you, in two years of ownership, I removed the roof only once... and that was to remedy the popping that the targa roofs have. Once I did that (shortly after I bought it), the roof never came off. I have a C5 Z06 as well... being a fixed roof owner, I'm fine with that.
So I recently sold my GS and bought a '11 ZR1. For me... best choice. But for you, I think you did the right thing in keeping yours.
