Default New ZR1 Tire Recommendations

Just got a 2013 ZR1 wanted to share a few photos, Blade Silver Over Ebony. Car has the stock pilot sports, many of my fellow enthusiasts are telling me to change the tires. Was hoping for some insight, most seem to tell me to get Mickey Thompson et street ss or Nitto Nt05R. Was also thinking about pilot sport cups.

If the tires are OEM Michelin Pilot Sport 2s (runflats) and in good condition, they should be fine.
The replacement tires are the new Michelin Pilot Super Sports (runflats).

(for street driving)

...and congrats on the car !

Going on 5 to 6 year old tires that probably don't have many miles on them they are probably riding and hooking up like ****. For stock power levels my continentals are holding up well to my frequent driving(9k this year).

id highly recommend getting rid of the run flats. depending on what you use the car for, i would put a fresh set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4, or Toyo r888r.

I have a 2013 ZR1 with oem tires also. When I do drive it the tires have been fine but I have been thinking to replace them within the next year or sooner. I'm choosing between super sports or sport cup2s. Very nice ZR, congrats

When driving the car will it spin hard up through 2nd and 3rd? If so those tires are needing replaced. Mine had about 60 percent tread on them(originals on a babied car with 15k miles) when I bought it. They spun so hard in thought the car was making 700rwhp. Also they rode like crap/made tons of noise.
So the tires you are rolling on are two years newer roughly than what i changed out.(swapped them 1 year ago on my 10)

Check before you recommend, neither tire comes in sizes appropriate for the OEM 19/20" ZR1 wheels

MT ET SS are not offered any more in your 20" size as MT had severe stability problems with them and the NT 05R is not available in an appropriate 20" size for your car. My 19" MTs are only OK for stability above 140 to 170. I wouldn't want to run them above that.

What do you want from the tires? straight line performance, cornering grip, quiet, good ride cheap price?

For street tire the M PSS ZPs in the OEM sizes are fine, if more grip and not concerned with tread life then the M PSC2 ZPs in OEM sizes.

If you are willing to go to a smaller diameter rear rim then choices open up.

I was hoping for some more grip rolling, my car seems to spin 2nd and third. Thats why I asked because I did notice those drag radials were not available in the sizes needed, seems like I'm leaning toward the pilot sport cup 2s for my use.

The PSC2's need heat in them to grip and will likely wear out in less than 10K miles unless you use a street alignment less aggressive than the factory settings, then you will lose some cornering grip, if that is important to you.

Subscribing. Only reason i don't get a set of cup wheels, is I'm not sure which tires to put on them for straight line acceleration traction.

I definitely won't want to change alignment. I will mostly just be roll racing, that is why i leaned toward a radial but I have heard about them being unpredictable at high speeds when mismatched. It seems like toyo r888's or PSC2's are the most steet-able option.

Thank you, This seems like the best bet to me I see them on lots of other exotics with decent power.

You should have the alignment checked, Most cars are all over the board from the factory. Just find a good shop, Then if its out choose one of the settings Pfadt put out and have them dial it in for you.

You could always get a repo set of the rears and run a 19x12...

Off topic, but did you buy that car from Ferrari Long Island by chance?
