Default Scared to "run" my Z06 on jack stands while changing diff fluid. Should I not?

Instructions for changing diff fluid, after filling it with new fluid, is to run it at 10mph in 2nd gear for 1 minute.

However, my HCI setup has some pretty good (not terrible) engine rock. Car definitely rocks back and forth a little bit when idling at stoplights.

How stupid would it be to start it and run it while it's up on stands? Can someone confirm my suspicion that this would be a terrible idea? Thinking it might be worth the effort to lower it, drive it around, and lift it back up.

I've run mine on jackstands before and didn't like it. Just drop it down, take it for a spin and raise her back up. Not worth the risk or worry.

I feel the same as Anthony. He basically walked me through my diff/trans fluid change. I didn’t feel comfortable running it on the lift. Being cammed it shakes too hard side to side for my comfort level.

Agreed.

That being said, ran it on the max jax, and quick jack no issues. If you were close enough I would say borrow my quick jack for a afternoon to do it. Far quicker/easier than jackstands.

If you don't feel comfortable, go with you gut instinct.
As Unreal noted with his setup, I also have a QuickJack and had no issues letting my car idle in 2nd gear while up in the air on it....it was completely stable.

Ok, I'm convinced it's worth the extra work to take it down and put it back up. Thanks all!

Call me crazy. I have run mine but only with the rear wheels/tires removed. All went well.

It would be foolish for us to tell you to do something you're uncomfortable doing.
