my spring and cable were shot so I got a replacement off ebay for 20 bux. I have seen a few posts about having to pull the rear wheel and the inner fender out to get to the cable but just a tip-

I tied a piece of fishing line to the old cable, around the threads by the fuel fill, before removing it. That way I had the fishing line snaked through the fender. I just tied it to the new cable and pulled it through. took me all of Ten minutes.
