3LZ Custom Interior Defect
I have a 2013 3LZ with just under 13,000 miles. I just put together a plan to address the infamous exhaust valve issue that the LS-7 motor and felt like the worst would soon be behind me when this happend! Looks as if the custom leather material has separated from whatever it was secured to. It's clearly defective and the dealership says $2553 to replace the dash plus $1000 for labor! This should not happen in a car this expensive! Chevy is really making it hard for me to justify keeping this car. Has anyone else had or heard of this problem? Any suggestions on what to do. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Its a known issue...you'll find more threads like yours on here. Some have been able to negotiate a goodwill replacement dash at their dealer that substantially reduced the cost. I've heard of others having an upholstery shop to do the repair. I think one member even opted to pull the windshield for access to the dash versus pulling the dash to repair it.
This guy's 3LZ car only had 900 miles... https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...t=dash+peeling

I will contact Chevy customer care and see if I can negotiate something reasonable. I understand that it's not under any type warranty. At this point, I'd be willing to pay for the labor if they'd supply the parts!

Unfortunate for sure. So far mine is holding up well (if I had to guess all of these failed dashes are probably due to one or two specific assembly line employees that were lazy with the glue application - if it were the materials or glue they would have all failed by now).
If mine ever goes, I will probably do the windshield pull and re-glue method as well - sure seems like it would be easier than pulling the dash.

Mine is fine but it never sits in the hot sun hours upon hours during the summer up here which is usually the main cause. The glue wasn't strong enough that GM used of course. A good auto apholstery shop can fix that. Have seen the pics. It's unfortunate that most will have to POTOP to fix it.

Mine's doing it too and looks almost exactly like the OP's. Been debating whether or not to get a replacement piece as it's pretty embarrassing having to make excuses for it to passengers.
Since I'm the second owner I'm pretty much SOL and I'd hate to have a $2k new one end up doing the same thing. Never expected the dash to have the life expectancy of coolant.

I have the same problem in my 08 3LZ, but not as severe. Currently, I have a ridge forming in front of the defroster vent that is pretty much the length of the dash. Its raised off the dash by about 1/2". It doesn't bother me much now, but it definitely will if it gets to the point where it looks like yours. I wouldn't just get a replacement dash because its very likely that the same problem will happen again unless proper precautions are taken before the install by re-gluing it.
If it does get worse, I plan to just have the windshield pulled and have a car upholstery shop fix it. This is a relatively inexpensive fix unless the windshield breaks upon removal. This turns a $300+ fix into over $1,000.

Although yes that heat is short. used to have heat from April to October. Not the last 15 years. We are real cold for Christmas this year. Our last 2 winters were mild. January in the 25-40 F fleece sweater area. You are just 2K miles straight south. Close!
West coast is usually snowless and in the 40s 50s all winter in BC. Toronto is further south than Minneapolis. They are mild. East coast Maritime provinces get a mix and the Noreasters that affect the upper east coast. I like storing the Z for 5 ish months. I'd get bored if I had it running 12 months a year.

Mine is starting to do it. I would swear it wasn't like that three weeks ago, when I bought the car! Maybe in my excitement, I just didn't notice it.
Oh well, the joys of Vette ownership, it's not like I don't know better, after 37 years of them.
I hope I can find a good auto upholstery shop that can do it, I recoil at the thought of my dash all over the place, at the dealer!

With my luck, if I had a 3LZ...I'd be dealing with this as well. If I did, I would probably approach it through the windshield as well. Thankfully I just have my lowly 2LZ w/Nav.
