Headers/CAI on stock exhaust?
Does anyone have video of their Z with only headers and CAI with stock exhaust. I've got mild to wild and would like to add headers and wondered about the drone using stock exhaust. Right now I'm completely stock and with flaps closed it sounds like a buick. That's a good thing on the highway!

Keep in mind I have cats (and you should too), so that does tone down the volume somewhat.

While I do have a healthy cam as well, I have long tube headers with cats and the stock catback, with the bypass mod.
I previously had a B&B Fusion catback and the drone (even closed) was too much for my wife. Now, with the modified OEM catback, it's loud when open, and quiet when closed. Although it's still not as loud as the B&B, it's enough, and more importantly for me, it has spousal approval.

Thanks for the sound clips! hoping to keep highway cruising restrained with the flaps closed

Based on what my performance shop told me, they won't do headers with the stock exhaust. You have to go to an X-pipe and high flow cats to get the maximum HP gain out of the headers, all of which is designed to improve exhaust flow. I did it on my car and it sounds better and a bit louder. And of course, you are going to make more power. This mod goes well with a CAI and tune for some initial mods.

Here's mine. Had Vararam, 2" ARH, 3" ORX, fixed/ported heads, and stock mufflers with stock cam. On quiet setting it was definitely fine for long highway drives with minimal to no drone.

Likewise, LG 1 7/8, catted X pipe, very mild cam, CAI.
Had modded mufflers... droned like crazy in 6th with the flaps open on the freeway.
Swapped them for stock mufflers, flaps open, modest drone. Flaps closed, none.
Quiet as stock (or as close to it as I can tell) until you're on it, then has a great sound but still quiet enough to not attract undue attention.
I wrapped my headers to stop any 'ringing'... don't know if that had an impact on cruising dB.
