Default Minor mods completed

Car just rolled 740 miles...

I have no plans to go crazy with this thing. My C5Z is an LPE TT setup that has been sitting at 650rwhp for 14 years... for me, personally, that is plenty of power for my use.

So, I went into this with the same idea... keep it simple, don't want to do a ton of supporting mods (fuel system, extra aux coolers, clutch upgrade, etc) in order to gain a few extra ponies that will be lost on me.

It is a package that 21st Century Musclecars advertises as their 715HP setup. I have worked with them for a long time, and they have built and tuned several of my vehicles over the years. As outstanding as their work is, probably the best thing I can say about them is that I take my cars over there in spotless shape, and they return the same way. We have had some crappy weather over the holidays here in N. Texas, and it was obvious when I went and picked up my "next to new" car that it hadn't been outside at all... not to move it around while working other cars, nothing. No dust on it, even.

The results are 632rwhp/613rwtq.

Mods: 2.6" upper, 100mm idlers, LPE ported blower snout, AR long tube headers with hi-flow cats. The car already had Akro axle-back installed when I bought it.

It is 27^F today, so any significant throttle in 3rd at 80mph busts the tires loose... even after driving it awhile to get things up to temp.

My new Forgeline VX1R wheels come tomorrow with Toyo R888Rs mounted, so I will post some pics of those once I get them on. No heated garage here, so it may be a few days before I do it.

Do you replaced the stock injectors? What are the R888R sizes you got? Thanks.

Stock injectors and fuel pump. AFR looks great.

295/30-19f, 345/30-19r for tires.

Nice set up. Can't wait to see the pics of the wheels. Are you planning on dropping the car ?

Not sure on dropping it. I think it sits great the way it is, but that is with the stock 19/20 setup. Dropping it too much takes away a lot of practicality of driving it around where I am... a scraped up front lip spoiler would tick me off more than it does having the car sit at stock height.

For pure looks... yeah, they look great dropped. No doubt.

Are those numbers what you expected for the mods? I only ask because I just wrapped up a very similar install myself and we're in the process of tuning on 93. After that, we'll switch over to e85 (I have larger injectors) and tune on that. I really didn't have a number in mind but seeing yours its pretty exciting.

That's a perfect setup for the street imo. A lot of power, can fill up on pump gas and keep stock driveability.

Strong! Did you baseline dyno the car? And are those 1-7/8" or 2" primaries on the headers?

They are a little higher than I expected, based on what they call a 715hp package being flywheel HP. I would not expect the Akro exhaust to have done anything significant. They did not baseline the car, which is ok with me. All dynos will vary a little, and this is a Dynojet, FWIW.

I honestly figured it would be closer to 600-610. Correction factor was non-existent. SAE 1.00

Thanks. I agree. It's plenty of power...and hopefully useable power once the weather warms up some and the new rubber arrives. I'm on 6+yr old OEM tires right now.

No baseline... 1 7/8" primaries

No additional mods because I have used this shop for 15 years and trust them completely. I'm sure there is more power to be had in various places of the combo, but for what I paid, what I got, and how the car will be used/driven, its plenty.

Certainly will do! It is extremely cold here in N. Texas (as it is just about everywhere else), so until it warms up, I won't have a fair assessment. But I will report back, or drop me a PM anytime.

I have 345/30-19 NT05Rs on my 650rwhp C5Z that has ZR1 trans gearing, and those hook well from a 2nd gear roll. I'm guessing these 888s won't hook quite as well, but I didn't want to put a DR on the ZR1. We'll see. If they are absolutely no good, then I will go with NT05Rs on it, as well.

Subpar cell phone pic I took late tonight after the wheels arrived and I had some time to take a look.

Won't get them mounted til Saturday at the earliest, but here's a sneak peak.

look at how little weight it took to balance them.
