Can these be had without the LED and antenna stuff? I like the mirror a lot but the rest I find too frilly.

They are offered with and without the XM antennas. The LED could be painted over and not hooked up to power if you're just wanting the shape without the LED strip. This has actually been done in the past!

Does he not see the missing paint on the sharp edges of the mirror at 3:08 on the vid?

It is kinda funny that you mention that. I ordered my LED ghosted so it is not very noticeable at all unless lit up. (See the vid above).

When testing it, it is VERY bright compared to the Oracle side markers. It looks good, but a little too bright for my tastes. So, I thought it might be better to hook it up to a "turn signal only" circuit. I found out that is exceptionally difficult, but I believe I have found a solution. And no, it isn't a no-cost solution, I am sorry to say. I am still investigating.

So here's the rundown of the LED light options.
  1. On all the time. Very bright, easiest to hook up. (Lookatmelookatmelookatme!! )
  2. Dim with the running lights, bright blink with the turn signals. (Not a bad option, needs a dual-intensity circuit)
  3. LED on turn signal only (still investigating how to make this happen...signs are positive)
I am hopefully going to be able to do #3, but if not, #2 will be OK. I'll be doing a video on the final solution. This weekend I will release the complete comparison on the car as mentioned above and then likely release a follow-up with the LED hookup solution I end up with.

But until then, I still love how they look, independent of the LED aspect.

Who is "he"? Me?

Trust me, I had my hands on these things so much during the install process that I would be astonished if I missed missing paint. I took a look and at the 3:08 mark, are you talking about the area by my left thumb? If so, no paint is missing...it is how the light was playing off the edges where the unit is assembled.

I even went down to my garage to double check.

I have thought about purchasing these as well. I want to see some real world installed pictures first though.

Wrapping up the installation results video, and will have very clear "before and after" morphing images. I expect to release it tomorrow so hit the link in my signature.

Until then, here's a couple of images to tide you over...

Has anyone washed their car with these on yet? I'm curious if the after wash drip is gone.

I don't think there are many who have these yet. I got one of the very first sets so I am going to say that probably remains to be seen.

I have not experienced that myself as I hand wash and use a leaf blower with focus on places where water can collect. Do we know where the water drips from when it happens?

I also hand wash and use a leaf blower, but I get a drip right where the mirror attaches to the door. It did the same thing on my C5 too. I've also heard many others mention this problem.

Where does the water collect and then drip from?

The water drips from the lowest point of where the mirror base attaches to the door. As far as I can figure out there's only 2 places the water can collect from. Where the outer part of the mirror swivels on the base there's a gap, or outside the mirror itself there's a gap.

I imagine they have a beefy enough gasket to eliminate this but cannot yet confirm one way or another. Great thought - never even crossed my mind!

Those look great!

They actually flow nicely with the C6 body lines.

Every time I walk out to the garage, I see how much better they look. I think it might be one of those things that once you have the vision implanted in your head after seeing them, they would look weird any other way.
