Default Toyo R888R's question...

In the process of putting new rubber on the Z. Current rear's MPSS at 345/30-19's are over 5 years old now. I also have Michelin Pilot Sport AS3's on the front, 285/30-19's. I replaced the 18" fronts with 19's in anticipation of going to ZR1 brakes. So here's the question for all the tire guys here.
AS3's are 25.8 dia. 11.4 wide (On a 19 "wheel)
OEM Good years are 25.6 dia, could not find the width. (On an 18" Wheel)
Toyo R888R's are 26.0 and 11.8 wide. On a 19 " Wheel.
The reason I'm trying to figure this out is I don't want to run Toyo's on the rear and then have to run some other type of tire on the front. Toyo doesn't make a 285 in a 19"
I've never lowered the car, it still sits right where the factory put it. Front splitters are too expensive.
So will the 295 Toyo's rub or not?
I'm all ears

Here are the R88R specs. You should be OK with the 295/30 and 345/30 19s. The 295s may rub lightly on the outside front lip of the liner at full droop and lock and may lightly rub the inside brake cooling duct, again at full lock.

With the 26" tall fronts you will need the 27.2" tall 345 rears not to get codes.

I have the 345 Michelin's on now and discount tire has a set of the 345/30-19's 888R's on the way here for me to look at.
The ZR1 has 19's on the front, I guess I'll look it up and see what size they run. Why didn't I think of that sooner?

I run 295/30-19 front and 345/30-19 on the rear with the R888Rs on my ZR1.

Any rubbing and have you had a chance to run them on a wet road?

No rubbing at all, but my car is not lowered, either.

Have not run them on wet roads... no intention to, unless I get caught out in something on accident.

How annoying/tolerable is the road noise? I'd love to try 888's after my MPSS are done, but damn, on youtube I can't get over that howl! Sound like the mud tires on my truck!

This car will never get wet except to wash it!

I take mine on the occasional road trip so sometimes I have no choice. Took my old C5 to Key Largo and back.

I've been reading that the new 888R's are much quieter than the old 888's. Don't know how true that is.

I have never owned 888s, but the R888R is _definitely_ NO louder than the OEM tires that were on the car when it arrived to me. There is absolutely no noticeable difference in road noise transmitted from the tires, and i've driven them around town at 40mph and on the highway...some sustained driving at 110-120, too. Again, I cannot compare to the R888, though.

In all seriousness, there is no way these would be worse in the rain than DRs...even the more street-friendly ones like the NT05R.

That is great.

From personal experience I can confirm the R888s sounded like full snow tires from 40 MPH up to high track speeds.

R888 on my front, R888R's on the rear; no issue with any road noise. Have had the GY RF's, both MPSS's run flats and non run flats.
Great tires, IMHO...

Another question, would a 19, 20 combo work on my ZR1? I recently put cup wheels and Continental Extremes on, and really like them as a street tire. I will make some trips this summer, and I really don't want to get caught in the rain.

So, I have my stock wheels to play with, and it might be nice to put an aggressive play tire on there, when I want to. Would the 295/30/19 fit on the front, stock height, with a 26.0 height, pairing it with a 335/30/20, with a 27.7 height; is that too much difference?

Just thinking, if they wouldn't rub, or throw codes. Thanks, guys.

Toyo doesn't really make a good set of 19/20 R888Rs. The 335/30-20s at 27.7" are too tall if driven aggressively you will chew up the liner. You could cruise on them, but that's not what the R888Rs are about. The front rear delta on the two you mentioned are OK, but rears too tall.

I run 295s on front and they rub being dropped with stock bolts. Grip is out of this world though. Haven't tried on wet roads though.

Thanks for the information. I didn't really think they would work. If I was serious, I would just get a custom set of forged eighteens or nineteens, but I'd never use them enough to justify the cost.

I used to live at the dragstrip, but I'm not going to track this car, just thinking about little tweaks, for some fun street driving.
