Is it true that the Mojave event isn't happening again? I like way south Ca. and wish there were events that were not so far away.

Its funny to see this. I road the first ever motorcycle event at Miller, it was a trackday org out of Oregon that I instructed for. Going from mostly sea level racing to Miller, even on my superbike it felt like a turd. I could ride it so hard there compared to a sea level track that it was stupid. Like being on a 600

True, apparently the municipal airport gets federal funding and some of the pilots complained. Reading between the lines: If you close the runway for car speed events we will withhold federal funding.

It is also unfortunate that there were several fatalities. My editorial comment only and not attributed to anyone involved in organizing the event: From several of the "accidents" it may have been a way to go out in ablaze of self glory as there is plenty of shutdown room even at well over 200 MPH and some were reported to be at full throttle well after the end of the 1.5 mile trap that was marked always with 3 sets of red flags and for the later events 3 series of multi-red LED flashing lights, could not be mistaken for markers before the trap.

That's too bad. I had known there were some deaths, but didn't know there was some weirdness behind it. As to the pilot's, its a shame that people are like that. No fun to be had here, nope, not for car guys. LOL

What did you think of the Bohmer event? Was there enough time to get a few runs in the course of a day? I have heard the surface is top notch.

I am narrow body, so not in you guys' "club", but hoping to run mid 280's next year in 1.5 miles (went 269.6 this year in testing).. Maybe more if we can secure a longer track. Will be in Maine for sure and hoping to do NM, AR, or FL.

The event is top notch, best I have run in the country and Johnny is a great guy. You get as many runs as you want, there are only 12-20 cars for the day. You start out doing Halfs, then Miles and then Top Speed Testing, there is no head to head racing. The surface is the most level in the world, only a 1/4" deviation from end to end.

Great video. I must admit I watched it quite a few times, What an amazing run.
I liked the window roll up at 150+mph.

Thanks, significant traction problems in 1st gear as no tire warmup allowed on the airport property. Fun time, alas the event is no more.
The 2nd pas at 201.2 was mostly the same except I didn't have to roll the passenger window up during the run. A C6 GS SC with 681 rwhp did the same 201.2 on that 2nd 200 run using my PSS street rear tires as his PSS suffered from the death wobble, but no problem using mine.

It would be nice if we could get this list going...
  • 2011 Z06
  • 100% stock drivetrain
  • 345 Michelin PSS tires
  • 145.44 MPH spinning through 1st & 2nd gear (only 1 pass)

What color was your car? I don’t remember seeing a stock C6, but I definitely didn’t see every pass. I made a run in one friends GTR (stock except cat back) and another friends Mach 1. Supercharged and tuned but only on PS4 tires.

Had to dig back in the archives, stock 2009 C6 Z06, stock drivetrain and exhaust, Bilstein non-adjustable Sport Shocks, Mich 325/30-19 PSS tires. This was 1/2 mile standing start. I have other faster ones, but that was when they allowed roll racing with the start 100 yards before the beginning of the actual 1/2 mile.

For a more recent run, full stock 2023 C8 Z06, 345/25/21 PS4S ZP tires, PTM settings as listed. 1/2 mile standing start.
