Default Programming for pops during decel.

I have an 09z. It has a corsa sport exhaust. I like the exhaust. Although it’s not quite as nuts as the popping from a 2012 z06 I drove a few years back.
I was researching on a thread about the louder exhaust and it’s popping characteristics and someone said it’s partly the mufflers but also partly the tune as to the reason why the 2011,12, & 13 are louder with more pops on decel.
Is there something that can be programmed into the tune to enable the pops? I’m curious if those cars loose that characteristic if they modify and get a tune to handle any mods. ie you are eliminating the factory tune.
i was talking to a shop and he was saying disable DFCO. Anyone tried this on an 06-10?

Thanks

Decel spark tables will remove or enhance the popping. So yes, tuning can do what you're looking to accomplish.

I have OE manifolds & Cats on my '09, but I replaced the H pipe for an x-pipe, and added B&B fusions w/ M2W. In the open position on the mufflers, my car pops like crazy on decel...and I'm still on stock tune.

I absolutely LOVE the burbles and pops when I lift off. I'm addicted!

I'm REALLY going to miss this car when it is gone someday...

You can't miss it if you do not sell it.

In your cal file, turn off DFCO. That usually stops the "popping."

Mine has 5-6 pops that come on about 2sec after lifting... I've learned the timing perfectly so I can POP POP at cars as I pass their windows (mustangs, hellcats, BMW, AMG, you name it)

The 2011+ Z06 and ZR1 mufflers are louder because the by-pass pipe in the muffler is solid, not perforated as the pre 2011 Z06 mufflers. The perforated by-pass pipe will allow sound to escape into the muffler.

In 2011, GM changed over the Z06 mufflers to the ZR1 design, solid by-pass pipe and yes, Louder!
