Default Car is apart...2 cams in hand...CF poll will decide what goes in!

So after a long indecisive process of spec'ing out a cam for my car, I've ended up with 2 cams and need CF's opinion on what goes in.

Based on what I've read online, I think both cams will perform well for my application, which is a mild daily driver with good low rpm/speed manners. I've read and PM'd many members on here (thanks to all of you btw).

So anyways, below is my setup and the cam options. The cam goes in this Saturday and I'll post up the results when complete.

Setup:
'07 Z06
AHP heads with PSI 1511 springs, non ported, non milled
Halltech MF103
Ported MSD, Ported TB
Stock exhaust manifolds, cats
Corsa Xpipe

Cam Options:
220/244 .615/.648 116 LSA 0 degrees overlap Torquer Cam
228/244 115+3 648/652 115+4 LSA 6 degrees overlap Custom Cam

If the car is truly a daily driver then the choice is easy. Pick the cam with the best street manners. Don’t cam the car for the small amount of time you’ll spend at WOT.

Do you like low torque and mid range power or higher rpm hp for Freeway blast?

This is why I ended up buying the smaller cam, but after speaking with a few people with the BTR 2 (which is slightly bigger than the custom cam) it seems like the torquer is practically stock and the BTR still maintains 95% of the same drivability, but I'm not totally sure and there aren't many people around that have either of these cams so I haven't been able to test them for myself.

Hmm from the torque curves I've seen, it didn't seem like the BTR cam has a substantial loss of torque compared to the torquer 116 at lower rpms. Now the torquer 110 is a different story...

Thanks all for the votes and replies. It looks like a tossup between the two cams.

P.S. this is why you shouldn't wait long between buying parts and installing them... Project creep and second guessing!

Given your stated goals, I think you'll love either cam.

Those are both small cams that will drive like a dream. I would do the slightly bigger one, as they are both small and won't have any driveability issues.

Thanks for the additional feedback...I'm surprised to see that it's exactly even, I assumed the Torquer would have taken the lead. Question regarding the cams, will going from 0 degrees to 6 degrees overlap with the additional intake duration kill gas mileage when putting around town or on the freeways?

Won't kill it. Anything <10 should drive great and have very little to no impact on fuel economy.

I gotta say I like this option the best. A cam is so much work that the $400 on the actual part is nothing compared to getting the correct cam for what you want. You could sell both of those cams for $250-300 each, then get an option 3 cam which would work better for your goals than either of those.

The cam is being done out of necessity as there is some scoring on the cam lobes so I'm doing the swap precautionary so I don't end up with a cam/lifter failure.

I know that everything comes at a cost, but from the feedback I've gotten, the 116 drives practically stock and the BTR 2, which is bigger than the other cam also has amazing street manners.

Unreal, maybe I'll get that custom cam you installed that got you over 1000hp

I love my cam. Pat G nailed it. Drives perfect, idles perfect, no issues, makes killer power. Does exactly what I wanted. Well worth the $25 to have him spec a cam for my specific combo.
