Default Joined the Darkside! C6Z!

Last week I drove up to NC and traded in a Grabber Blue Boss 302 for a Machine Silver 2006 Corvette C6 Z06!!! I am in love with my Z. Everything is like being in a different world with the Z. The handling, braking, POWER, and the interior! I have the 2LT with two-tone seats and NAV. Driving the Z06 is like driving a race car. She handles better than my mustang race car on R Comp tires!

On the way back I stopped by my grandparents house for dinner and took a picture with my grandma’s Silver GT. I then cam on home. The Z was in Wilson, NC and my grandparents are in the Four Oaks area. I then made the 2 1/2 hour thrill ride back to Sumter. On the way home I was given the bird by an FRS/BRZ, I guess he did not like a C6Z purring by at 80 MPH? Lol, it was a weird situation. I made it home and now to decorate the garage with Z06 banners and posters!

As for the last picture, you can barely tell but the vinyl is carbon weave. That is the only reason the vinyl is staying lol, once it gets messed up it is all coming off! I also will be blacking out the front emblem due to oxidation and I want to haha.

At at the end of the month I will be going HCI and have yet to order anything.

Plans are:

Vararam CAI
Frankenstein Heads
TS Headers/X-Pipe (used)
160 Thermostat
ARP Head Bolts & ARP all else
Custom Cam spec’d by me! (With help of course).

i will update this thread as everything goes!

Congrats on the purchase. Machine Silver is the fastest color.

Few critiques on your part choices:
There are better heads out there than Frankensteins
Those Texas Speed headers lose A LOT down low
Look at the CPR Alpha cam or the RPM B3 cam. Both are proven. The Alpha in the half mile and the B3 in the 1/4mi.

Welcome to the fraternity.

These cars are so very special for so many reasons, never to be seen again.
Of course I'm preaching to the chorus telling you or you'd never have traded one of Ford's nicer offerings, otherwise.

You need to lose the poster on your garage wall now.
Car looks great, enjoy it, even though Victory Red is really the fastest color.

Good! She is fast for sure!

1. What heads?
2. My buddy is going to sell me some cheap, I may cough up ARH 2” money later.
3. I want to Spec my own cam, separate thread in here on that and let’s keep that scrutiny there haha. The Alpha cam sounds enticing though as I want to do half-mile and roll racing.

Haha, I kind of thought of that when I starting posted about joining the darkside.

Well that poster is for my detailing business, I take it to shows and whatnot. I am going to have another made with the Z. VR is nice!

Thank you and yes, this is my first IRS car and it feels wonderful how this thing corners and the only give you feel is from the tires sidewalls. Which is not much anyway, the turn in is amazing as well. I could go on and on haha.

As an FYI, you're already working on the horsepower end, but on the handling side, after you get over the initial love of the car, you'll begin to feel some of its handling flaws. The biggest is the tendency of the rear to get skittish when turning on a rough road, or over a hump, anything that isn't a smooth road. The low cost solution is the Doug Rippie Motorsports valved Bilstein shocks, and the higher or high cost solution is coil-overs.

Congrats on the new Z06!
My advice is that if you are going to do an intake, go with a ported MSD.
I found a ported FAST 102 on sale, but all my research has the MSD giving the best TQ and HP results....especially with aggressively H/C cars.

Congrats... looks minty and mean. If ur goin hardcore for hp AI heads is it. Consult with ls7 expert shops on cam. Don't know how radical you want. Good luck and enjoy. These are beasts with bolt ons even in 2018.

I did notice that on the way home, I went over a bumpy bridge and rear felt skittish. Thank you for the heads up and after power mods are done I may look into it. I really want to fix the heads and add power, then drive the Z for a long, long time.

Thank you! Definitely for the MSD. I am thinking of doing ported MSD/NW102 in a year or so down the road as I want the heads fixed ASAP. CAI/Heads/Cam/Headers and everything with that first.

Thank you! Really? AI is good to go with? I will have to check the, out and as for the cam I will be! I will try to enjoy her to the fullest! Yes they are, I got on it slightly on the way home and she pulled hard for the small hit I made.

Yes Advanced Induction is at the top. Most stock block 9 second guys go with their 280cc head. You get what you pay for. Unless ur worried about bronze guides not lasting tens of thousands of miles. No one knows. Myself and 2 friends have them. No doubt about the intricate detail and very high quality of their work. Others will chime in. Have cores done and ship ur original heads back in the boxes from AI. Good luck whatever you decide.

Cool deal, I will look them up now. Do bronze guides not last long? If not, which do?
