Bypassed oil cooler?
i got under the car yesterday and changed the oil and noticed that oil cooler lines were unplugged and a block off plate was on the side of the block right next to where the filter threads on.
should this be re connected?
the car only has 50k on it i would hardly think its plugged up or not working.
i also thought that since it is already unplugged i could remove the cooler itself for better flow by the radiator/condenser?
what are your thoughts
thanks

Many guys do this because the front mounted oil cooler (air cooled) is too efficient for the street, and oil temps take too long to reach optimal operating temperature. If you're street driven, its not a necessity.
Not sure how long you've owned the car, but you've been fine as-is so far...so why change? I'd just remove it and sell it. They fetch $250-300.
As a side note, be careful not to overfill with oil...I think the cooler and lines volume is something like 1 qt or thereabouts.

Bypassing it is a great idea for a street car and actually helps and protects the motor better.
