Headgasket was the LSX 6 bolt head gaskets. At the time 6+ years ago, that was the only option for a 6 bolt head gasket.

That being said, only 50/50 if it is actually cracked. Just a little line there that I can feel with finger nail. Could be from piston ring, or who knows. Need to get it out and see. A quick hone and it maybe fine. If it is a small crack, can have that sleeved easy enough and I'll keep the block for another project. Sleeve that one hole, bore it to 4.155 and do a basic n/a grunt motor to throw into a truck or my jeep.

Damn that LSR block looks siiiiiick

Might as well give LSM a call while you're block shopping. I've used a couple of their billet blocks, and they are works of art.

Were you using studs? I assume so.....
ARP stud kit, 6 bolt kit. The stupid $600 head stud setup.

Any of the billet stuff is out of my price range. The LSR would be a stretch at $4300 for a block.

As for other builders, not interested. I have my goto places. It will be local shop that is knocking out killer stuff (WFO), LME, or HPR.

Sorry to hear, but yeah....you’ve gotten some mileage out of that setup. Interested to hear which direction you go next. Now’s the time to think about all the should've could've would’ve moments you’ve had over the last several years with that build.

Hey bud.... hopefully the blocks isn't cracked and you can just carry on. Otherwise like you said , it didn't really owe you anything at this point. Great to see you used the car how it should be, and it lived a long life.

If I go solid roller, not sure who is the goto solid roller guy. I know Pat G is my guy for hydraulic, but not sure about for solid.

Agreed on time to go back and change things. Biggest thing is probably lean towards aluminum block this time, to try to combat the summer weather even more.

Glad you are OK, quite the experience.

If/when I have the opportunity to build an aluminum
Engine I would look real hard at the Concept Performance
LSR Block (I used the LSX for my last build). I would
Definitely use a LLSR From Cam Motion again also.

Looking forward to your build.

If I go aluminum, it will be that block.

Hard choice between that and the dart pro. Is 180lbs worth $2k?

I think so. Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but glad you kept it right side up at that speed!

Subscribed to see the progress and your part selections.

Good luck with it

Glad you were able to save it. Fluid under the tires at high speed is a sketchy feeling for sure.

How much power do you want to make?
The LSX was 135 lbs heavier then aluminum, Is the Dart +45 more?
Unless the priority is handling, to me $2000.00 is worth more
Then 180 lbs everything else being equal.
I'm sure I'm in the 3% Minority on this one LOL.

Same as before, 1100-1200rwhp.

Dart and LSX are same weight I think.

Next step is selecting parts. Motor will be out next week.

Select a block
Pistons
Builder

Heads 99% sure I'll do Mast heads, not sure who to fix them up though. Was leaning towards LME but maybe not. Need to start making a parts list, and see what will be reused.

So even if if your block is good, you’re offloading it and moving to an aluminum block build? HPR on your radar?

No. If block is good use it, if not good leaning towards dart pro block. No aluminum unless I can be convinced but talking to a few trusted sources so far I'm not convinced on aluminum being reliable for my goals.

A three-some, very interesting ride?
