One really nice option AHP offers is they stock rebuilt heads ready to ship immediately. Means once they arrive owner may have them installed immediately either as a DIY or by a trusted/qualified wrench.
Downtime's the # of hours it takes to remove/replace.
*Does require a $1K core deposit on present heads, refunded upon their receiving used heads.
Not a bad deal, actually.
Abel Chevrolet's very capable of inspecting & making right; however, there's a time element involved. How long turn around wait is I can't say. Abel's a favorite for CA members driving LS7s who're close enough to make going there practical.
Both are forum sponsors, IIRC.
Sure does make sense, and #4 AHP package is for guys like us.
OTOH if planning to build for >stock HP then of course something beefer is probably required.
I'm 700 miles from 60K on my new-to-me '08.
Am exploring options right now for a head rebuild of original heads.
Where I live good HP shops are very rare, am working w/ this outfit http://www.westbenddyno.com/ .
Toured their shop last Saturday, they've a 4WD dyno which I found impressive given where I/we are.
Large shop w/ all manner of HP vehicles in various state of build, street & full blown race cars.
In fact they've a ZL1 Camaro in-house, first copy of one I'd seen, naturally it's upgraded to the 9s.
Owner & his #1 man love LS engines, they drive 'em themselves.
Although there was a Porsche, several Dodges, an AMC AMX, 3-4 Cadillacs (Escalades & V, all over 600HP) Dropped my drawers when I saw a '69 Ford Boss 429 in a corner awaiting complete engine rebuild after which they'll do whatever it takes to get car from its present primer to a finished 429 ready for the road.
This, in east-central WI. LOL
Nearly all their vehicles are from out of state owners, longest away being OH.
Red meat for any 'car guy'.
Feeling real good re their working on my beloved Z06. They even agreed to install a HL ballast my dealer {spit} wanted way too much $ to do & while WBD has my Z plan asking if they'll install new speakers all-around also.
A clean sweep and for reasonable dough.
My Chevy dealers just lost a loyal & lucrative customer.
As I said you're fortunate to have several solid choices scattered across CA to choose from. IMO AHP's the logical choice as long as head's are inspected and/or addressed is all that really matters.
The 'who' & 'what's done' is up to you.

Reason why I’m not sure to rebuild or by new ones is b/c I plan on staying N/A and don’t want to overspend on something that I won’t get to use the full potential of. Idk if that makes sense

Awesome info man, I greatly appreciate it. I will look into that Monday morning. I wonder if those AHP heads would work with a custom/baby cam?

Congrats, nice looking Z I just got mine 2 weeks ago - have only driven a little since wintery here in MN yet. Had it out a couple times this weekend, the temperatures made it just over 40F!!!
I'll go with liking the black wheels although I prefer satin finish in black. Or gray/anthracite colors. All including chrome are fine, everybody just has a personal preference.
