Head/ Valve issues with pre 09 Z06 -HELP
Looking at a nice deal on an 08 Z06, but I know some changes were made after 08 to M/T and heads or valve train ?
Was this a factory recall ?
Did it affect all pre 09 LS7 motors ?
Any help would be appreciated.

The cylinder head issue remains on all GM LS7's, but there are known fixes from those that are familiar with LS7 cylinder heads. What you are probably thinking of are the improvements made in MY 2009 that came about along with the ZR1. Oil capacity was increased in 2009 to 10.5qts. and this is nice to have, especially if you want to track the car, but is not a deal breaker. If you can swing a 2011+ Z06 that would be my preference, followed by a 2009+, but for the right price and the right car, I would consider any model year.

Assume they are bad and price the head swap job into the offer. you are looking at $2000-$2500 in parts if you use AHP or LME or similar. Then about $800-$1000 labor, unless you have the tools to do it yourself with a buddy.
If the heads are stock its almost certain the are or will be bad. Consider them a maintenance item every 50k or so and checking the valve guides every 10k.
This affects all LS7s 2006-2013(C6Z) and 2014-2015 (Z/28). Apparently it also affects LS9s.
Anyone who tells you differently has false hope/information.
FWIW you are better off buying a car that has been driven.

As stated above...every LS7 is at risk. Every year of C6Z's, 427 verts, Z/28 Camaro, replacement crate LS7's, OEM replacement cylinder heads.

Not sure what your nice deal is considering that information wasn't shared with us, miles condition, mods? Last year (Feb) I purchased a 08Z with 23K miles for $36.7K, brand new tires, Akrapovic Evo exhaust, K&N CAI and Mild 2 Wild, OEM Nav, really clean inside and out. Was it a good deal? It seemed average considering I purchased from a dealership, but I found the one I wanted, so that's all that really mattered. I still had to get the heads fixed, another $1500 from AHP. Would have been about $3200 for heads and labor if I had a local shop do it. Since I had originally budgeted with heads and labor I took the savings in labor and added headers.

Nothing changed. All years are effected.
