Not very likely. Plus, car would still crank. For sure, pull the plugs and have a looksie.

Update
Took a look at the oil and the pistons. No dropped valves or bearing debri to report. Engine also turn as well so this has to be an electrical issue.

It honestly sounds like a bad ground man. I know you say you checked. But hell, add two more ground straps for good measure and see if it gets better...then you've found your problem. Worth the 5 bucks or so and 15 minutes of times to rule it out as a problem at this point.

2 issues that started at the same time. Coincidence, I think not.
What we know based on what you have told us
1. Battery and battery connections are good
2. Starter and starter connections are good
3. Engine spins over by hand normally
4. Engine died while driving
5. Press start, get delayed starter and slow crank.
You have not said that you have found the main chassis and engine grounds. If 1.-3. are correct then I'd be searching out the main grounds next. That's the only other thing that would keep the engine from cranking normally if you crawl under and jump the starter manually. You can jump the starter from above at the starter relay under the cover but doing it at the starter bypasses everything.
When you find and repair the bad connection that makes the starter spin correctly again you will most likely solve the stalling issue. Find the other end of the big fat black wire from the battery.

There's one in the trunk (follow the negative wire from the post). And there has to be at least ONE coming off the back of the engine going to a chassis ground. It's on the passenger side IIRC. But I would add one more big beefy one. Like this:
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/p...yABEgL0_vD_BwE
Then buy the bolt to put this on the back of the cylinder head and ground it to the chassis somewhere. Will NOT have grounding issues after that.

Maybe I missed something, but how is the battery or starter being questioned? Were the gauges completely dark, or still lit up and at zero? If the car simply shut off WHILE DRIVING, it sounds more to me like you lost the fuel pump than an electrical issue.

His car would still crank normally if the fuel pump went out. it doesn't crank.

mr crank position or cam sensor? I know should throw a code but it wont start to show one. Did you check big positive wire under the fuse box? Also I had the nut that is on the main part of starter (come from the solenoid it is like a copper tang) was loose. Just throwing some ideas out here.

Sorry for the delay guys! Haven’t had much time to wrench on the car between the kids and work. New solenoid came in for the starter last night since I broke the female plug. Should be able to wrench on it tonight. Gonna run through all the grounds and probably add another ground tonight and see if that changes anything. Thanks for all the help so far!
Also, I can’t imagine it’s a fuel issue. You can still hear the pump prime and everything when you turn the car on. It just won’t crank normally or sometimes at all.

still lit up. Just at 0 even when the car was in gear. The battery and starter all tested as good.

I know you have checked but I have to ask does it have any active faults in computer? I had a camaro ss did the same thing. it sucked a 90 in the CAI flat on a hard pull and it would not do anything for about 1/2 hr. it reset it self maybe a vette needs to be reset manually.

Well I have some good news sort of. I replaced the starter solenoid, added a ground wire from the head to , and replaced the negative battery terminal and no she’ll just crank and crank and crank. It almost starts but just can’t quite do it. I did get P0335 and P0336 so that should just be a crank sensor no?

Yes crank sensor. You need to remove starter now it is behind it.

When you replace sensor you need to go find someone with a Tech 2 to then fine tune the sensor. But it will start and run when you put sensor in.
