like Jasonsb said don't bother removing the water pump.just remove the p/s reservoir from the pump and bracket and leave the pump bolted up.then there are 3 bolts to take the bracket loose from the head.2 of them you can get a socket on the other is behind the pulley and you will need to wrench it off a half turn at a time.leave that one for last because you need the bracket to come off with the bolt.
There are actually 4 bolts that hold the alternator bracket to the engine. One by the steam vent line, one holding the PS reservoir, one behind the PS pulley and one at the 7 o'clock position below the PS pump.

I did mine around 24k miles, pretty much right after I got it home after I bought it. Some guides were a little worn, but nothing to be too concerned about. I did it more for peace of mind and I followed one of the sticky guides on this forum and if I ran into anything I wasnt sure of I just referenced back to it. I went the cam and heads way since I figured it was halfway to being a cam install anyway.

I just did mine last year. AHP was a little backed up and took about 5 weeks even though I did the $1000 core exchange. Not mad, it gave me time to double check my work, ordered a set of LT headers, clean the wheel barrels and scrub the rotor hat rust and paint them. Are you going to notch that PS res bracket? I'd like to hear how long it took you to get that one tricky bolt off the alternator bracket. I had to call Kohle on that one, he said they just use a stubby wrench which you can only turn it an 1/8 turn at a time. It worked for me, but how frustrating. Some say they had no problem with it, but that was my biggest struggle, all else ran pretty smooth for my first head swap.

Hopefully it doesn't take that long to get mine. Kohle said sometime this week they should ship.

So update. My heads are ready to pull. They are fully prepped just have to pull the bolts. Unfortunately I talked to Kohle today at AHP and they are behind. My heads will not ship until maybe Friday next week so I am going to wait a bit longer before I actually remove them. So far it has been really easy and that alternator bracket wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be.

So I went ahead and finished pulling the heads this afternoon. I have been waiting for AHP to ship before actually pulling. They were supposed to have shipped Thursday of last week but I have not yet received any shipping info. I plan to get everything cleaned up nice tomorrow.

Also do you think these are cracks in the #5 and 7 exhaust valves? The rest look clean.

Today is the day my AHP heads arrive! They are on the truck for delivery. I am literally sitting in my garage waiting. Ha ha! My luck they will be delivered late today.
