Sorry Chad. Didn't mean to open up a can of worms here. You were at the forefront many years ago before all this happened. I think in 2 or 3 years I will dump the Z and get a nice low miles clean C6 GS vert and SC it. That's much more relaxing for an old guy when I will be 50.

For those that missed it, Chad was back last night. But evidently his posts were removed. Its too bad that someone with his experience, data and knowledge is not allowed to enter this discussion while others who have none of these abilities are allowed to BS all they want.

Man. You obviously don't rebuild heads nor understand the dynamics why. This is all proof from a extremely experienced LS7 head guy and from extensive testing. It was explained to me quite lengthy and in deep complex verbiage. I was being simplistic for obvious reasons. I can't explain it to average Joe's I don't know. Oh this person is tops in the USA. So don't buy his heads definitely. He doesn't know much.

Is it because they're not a vendor?

Buddy. You were late to the party. As said Chad's posts were all deleted. Explained everything in deep detail. You look like a fool man. Sorry you missed out. That was my guy from my post that everyone knows. His history here runs deep and mods don't like his facts nor GM.

chad took the time to offer valuable info on this topic and did it in a professional manner and it all gets deleted. That is just crap! Is the forum trying to cover up this issue or what!??!? Funny thing is half of the members on this forum are probably here because of this issue and unfortunately they are receiving filtered content and lots of bad advice.

Is it cool to post his channel name? Or are the mods not okay with it? And you're right...I don't know what is being discussed...hence my inquiring.

in case i cant post this is what i posted up...it will all be proven true in a few years.....Seen this post an figured I'd own it. That would be me. as I've posted about this issue many times on this very site...Those posts have been deleted though so it's lost but many here will know who I am an will back up that I said this an here is why. First I've been porting cylinder heads for 26 years and I've never seen anything like this. The only ls heads that are wearing guides are the ls7 an ls9. the ls9 is wearing the intake guides because the ti intake valve has a crap CrN coatings on these valves veries from valve to valve even bran new ones right out of the box, tumble polishing at del-west helps but far from a fix. now for guides wearing from driving around town...in every case I have seen guides in spec has been from a 100% track car stock or modded. To date I have seen 2 stock heads in spec..both 100% track cars only..one had 24k track miles was in spec but a ring land took out the intake valve when it broke. I have yet to see one ls7 head reworked thats been in spec and I've worked on most all of them AHP being the only ones I have not seen yet. And I plan on trying the guides myself I have to call them tomorrow at 11;30am to discuss. the ls7 is a high cr engine and most ppl mill heads for more for power. the more you mill the less timing can be run. And at low speeds to the store or a weekend drive those EGT are hot. the retarded ignition timing will drive up the EGT’s which in turn will increase the likeliness of knock occurring. The knock is then detected by the sensors and more timing is pulled again driving up the EGT’s. It becomes a vicious cycle. Flat milling .045”-.050” will get the chamber volumes down to 62-63cc which will put the cr at approx. 12:1. now this isn't the 100% cause because if it was we would be seeing worn guides in every engine with that cr weather it's an ls7 ls3 ls2 ls1 ect we don't...but its not helping the issue. People worry about valve bounce, well the zl1 an cts-v get modded a lot and those cars come with solid stem exhaust valve from the factory. Now of course lighter is better no doubt but 100g exhaust valves have been way past 7000rpm for over 50 years without wearing guides. I myself have worn out 3 sets of guides and will be pulling heads again this summer for the moldstar-90 guide. but I can tell you this every valve job i've ever done never leaves untill I get .001 run out or it don't leave until it does. I've ported many heads for the ls7 an my work speaks for it's self. In the reworked heads I've gotten in every case the guides have been bad every time. a guy I did a set of heads for last year had ips motorsports work the heads to be out of spec in 7k miles. In his heads it was not a valve seat concentricity issue as Ians heads had a .002 run out with guides at at the .0050 mark on all 16 valve guides. I have yet to see a ls9 head with worn exhaust guides. but I've seen worn intakes...Why? because I don't think ti is a good valve to run in any street driven car. it eats guides an the coatings are pure ****...I'd run the ti moly coated ones or run a 100g stainless intake valve an get the ti valve out...now this is just my opinion. Any many may disagree. but I was posting about these heads wearing long before anyone even thought their even was an issue to begin with. Then back in 2013 the bronze valve guides solid stems starting showing up at my house...after the 3 bad sets I started posting about it not being a fix.. band aid at best...also I see guys saying o-well the guides worn because you have a 660 lift cam..Bull because they was wearing on the stock cam as well. and the ls7 is the least modded of all the ls engines. and those guys aren't wearing guides from big cams...also I see guys saying valve guides are a wear item..again Bull these aren't tires brakes ect. valve guides should last till 100k miles. I no longer install valve guides on the ls7's for this reason. so I have nothing to gain here. the aftermarket heads are wearing as well. I run a half shaft rocker an I've worn 4 sets of guides, last guides I let Richard do an they're toast again....I'm not sure how long i'll be able to post on this site but i'm here at least once a week watching.....sorry guys but I warned you....now the only thing I've done to fix the issue for me was to fully port an ls3 head set up an run it 9k miles...at 9k miles everything was in spec...lost 20hp from 5500 to 7000. but in all fairness the ls3 heads I used still had the stock hollow intake valves an soild stem exhaust. so i could have got some of that back on a 2.200 intake valve being the intake for ls3 is 2.165 I have many video's i've posted to my youtube channel about this. some of you guys might not ever wear your reworked heads..just like some have been in spec after miles stock...but that is few an far between. The heads have big issues guys way more than the 1% crowd talked about. I've spent countless hrs trying to figure this out..I've talked to hundreds of guys on the phone ect over the years to try to help as much as I could...At this point guys I say this do not run any other guide but the moldstar-90 guides...even if its a band aid fix its better than what i'm seeing....guys you don't just pick up a grinder one day an become a head porter its takes years an years to get good when you do this by hand your shaping metals so it's an art

Chad is a really good guy and is super knowledgeable. It's ridiculous that he has been banned.
Plus I miss the pics of him in flip flops machining metal.

It’s funny, I remember him him taliking about this issue way back in the beginning and most of the posts were tearing him apart because they refused to believe there could actually be an issue like this with their precious Z06. People back then were mostly defending GM. Too bad he was banned. Problem is that it seems with this issue that it can’t be discussed for long without it turning in to a battle of egos or something, which is sad. It’s mostly because of GM and it’s handling of this issue that I have stayed away from purchasing a C7. And the same reason I really don’t really care what Tadge has to say about much of anything in the Q And A section. That, and of course I still do like my C6 despite this nagging issue that I wish would get resolved.

Do aftermarket heads have these issues? PRC/MAST/All Pro/Brodix? No one ever mentions if they actually cause problems. I purchases Unreal's PRC 285's and have been told no issues and they were refreshed, I am not really worried at all. Zero issues and have had over 1k rwhp run through them. Only interested to hear everyone's thoughts on the subject.
