Tuner converted my graph over to STD correction. Numbers were 655whp and 540wtq. Just incase anyone was wondering.

After about 3 months of no word from Pat G, I decided to hit him up again. My e-mail fell through the cracks, understandable since he is so busy and I wasn't in a hurry. After a few questions, he sent me my specs. The cam he spec'd is pretty similar to the B3 I am running now, but different valve events to build some cylinder pressure and different lobes. I asked for more torque, same peak rpm, and similar or better peak HP. He pretty much hit the nail on the head. Excited to put this cam in and see what it does. It won't be soon, as I still want to get 2" headers, vacuum pump, and an electric water pump first. I likely won't have apples to apples before and afters with these parts. I will be installing them all at the same time to minimize dyno time.

Do you mind sharing what lobes and the valve evens? Really just curious if he choose the same lobes that I am using LSL/LXL. My car is going back to my tuner today for cam, head gaskets, E85 conversion, etc.. and I should have it back in a few weeks. Tell me more about the Vacuum pump. I see some of you guys using them and I don't really know why.

Nice. Glad he came through. I'm very happy with the cam he spec'd for me. It quite literally did exactly what he predicted.

What vacuum pump are you going to use?

Glad you heard from Pat. Youre in TX I see and hes not too far away from you. Have you considered him taking care of the tune also once the new cam is in? He took great care of my Z in regards to the tune. Pat knows his ****.

RPM B3 valve events:
IVO is 10.5 BTDC ( - indicates ATDC)
IVC is 52.5 ABDC
EVO is 66.0 BBDC
EVC is 12.0 ATDC ( - indicates BTDC)
Overlap is 22.5

Pat G cam:
IVO is 14.5 BTDC ( - indicates ATDC)
IVC is 48.5 ABDC
EVO is 64.5 BBDC
EVC is 14.5 ATDC ( - indicates BTDC)
Overlap is 29

As far as the lobes, all he said was that they are custom TSP370 lobes. .370 lobe lift which is .666 with the 1.8 rocker ratio.

The vacuum pump helps evacuate positive pressure in the crankcase. This helps the rotating assembly spin with less resistance, can help rings seal against the cylinders better (especially if you use low tension rings), and helps make more power in the upper rev range. The higher you spin the motor the more it helps.

Me too. Great to hear you had success with his camshaft. I hear nothing but good things from everyone running his custom stuff.

I will be using the GZ Sportsman with the LS kit. Seems to be working well for the guys that run it.

I've heard nothing but great things about Pat G in regards to his tuning and cam spec'ing abilities. Fortunately, I have a solid tuner already so, no, I won't be using anyone else to continue tuning my car.

Eventually, I'll be taking a whack at the tuning for myself. If you couldn't tell by now, I love to tinker, so tuning my own stuff is the next logical step.

It will be very interesting to see what happens with the power curve with this cam. When it comes to valve events it really moves things away from software and towards expertise, guys who have done so much that they know what works and what doesn't. What retarding or advancing certain events will do to the power curve. There are so few people in the industry I would give a "full value" to their cam advice, Pat G is one of the good ones. Most others I just take their advice at face value.

Tuners who spec cams is where it's at. They have seen so much that they know what works and what doesn't.

I think the new cam might be 58 degrees ABDC on the intake closing to get the 29 degrees of overlap unless I am doing something wrong. I am coming up with 243 degrees on the intake on both I though somewhere you were 251 on the new one.

Probably a 242/258 111+4 or something close to that.

Just get the 249/262 .675/.652 and call it good. That way I can know what power I'd make with more compression.

The vacuum pump helps evacuate positive pressure in the crankcase. This helps the rotating assembly spin with less resistance, can help rings seal against the cylinders better (especially if you use low tension rings), and helps make more power in the upper rev range. The higher you spin the motor the more it helps.
It will be close. Ill say cam vs cam 5-7RW and TQ, bringing the TQ a bit sooner which equals his bringing the mid-range up and a window of ~50rpms. The extra lift will contribute to that gain. I personally would prefer a later IVC point and extend the RPM band a bit, and carry the power longer on top and take advantage of the Hi-Ram and upper RPM power its all matter of preference, thought process and end state.

I'm trying 15.5/53.5 on my Hi-Ram combo and see how that works out. If does not performs as expected (very subjective) then I have another grind to toy with.

The vacuum pump and EWP will contribute to it for sure!
