207.201mph at Johhny Bohmer Proving Grounds - With Video
Hey guys, I'm not a big poster on the forum but I value all the info and had to share a fun success story from the most recent Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds top speed event on Dec. 1st. My car is an 09 Z06 that I built and use primarily for HPDE events and has the Katech stage 2 package (Heads/Cam/Intake/Exhaust/etc.) and makes 575wph and 491wtq. My dad and I have always had going 200mph on our bucket list and were searching for the past year to find an event where we could potentially achieve it. The JBPG event seemed like the best chance given the long 2.7 mile distance so I hauled my car from Chicago to Cape Canaveral, FL for the December event (my dad drove from northern Iowa). At the event, the Z06 appeared to be a huge underdog with a Mclaren P1, Bugatti Chiron, multiple Lamborghinis and Vipers, and a new Ford GT all in attendance but the Vette not only surpassed my expectations but everyone there as well. It ran consistently all day without a hiccup going 180.4 in the standing mile, and in the full 2.7 mile distance it ran 204.68, 206.63 (with my dad as passenger), 205.67, and ultimately went 207.2mph. It goes to show what a well setup Z06 can do, beating most cars in attendance and as a point of personal pride (Chevy vs Ford) it beat the new Ford GT (by .2mph) despite its 216mph claimed top speed. I have personally never seen any articles or reports showing a verified top speed run at such a long distance for the C6Z so I thought it might interest you guys. I ran the car as it sits without any speed tape on the panel gaps or changes whatsoever from how I run it at HPDE's or on the street. I was told with narrower front tires, removing the side mirrors, and blocking the front grille as some drivers in attendance did on their cars it could have picked up several additional MPH. The timing was done by the IMRA (international mile racing association) out of Florida using accurate Tag Heuer equipment down to the thousandth. Thanks!!

Great that you made your goal as congrats on the 207. Welcome to the 200 MPH club (my two passes at Mojave 4/18 were 201.2).

Just wow!!! You showed up ready to document- excellent job on the video! Good gawd, what a badass Z06! I'll watch the video again in the morning instead of having a cup of coffee. Congrats on your achievements.

That's awesome you were able to cross this off your bucket list! I didn't know events like this existed. If you don't mind me asking, what was the cost? This is something I would love to do.

I'm hesitant to quote the exact amount because I believe the price varies based on the attendance number which is always very small (less than 15 cars) to give a better experience and as many runs as you wish at each distance (1 mile and the full 2.7). I will say it is significantly more expensive than even the Mojave Mile but you do get what you pay for in terms of experience, professionalism, and access. If you're seriously interested I recommend reaching out to Johnny who is a great guy and very responsive.

A friend of mine does airbrushing on a lot of motorcycle tanks so I had him paint the helmet for me years ago. It turned out great, his business is called Hagen Kustoms if you're interested.

That is so awesome !!!! More impressive when you think you ran the tall extended rear spoiler which give considerable down force at the expense of aerodynamic drag !!!
Is there a link or web site to get more info on this event ?

Congrats! Man, I want to go just to drive on the Space Shuttle runway now, even though I'd have no chance to come close to 200!

I don't know if you used a GoPro Hero 7 Black edition, or if the runway pavement is just that smooth, but the video is amazingly free of vibration or shudder

I don't know what his day cost, but I had previously heard a quote to use that facility at $2700/day.
Also, the Mojave event is no longer. I guess Mojave Municipal airport receives federal funds and the manager of the airport got a letter from the FAA that intimated that the federal funds might go away if the airport main runway was closed to general aviation due to a car event.
Also, I guess we have proved the 2009 Zs are the fastest!
