Will do, did stock only have lash caps on the exhaust valves? There were no caps on some of my valves.

Well my buddy came over earlier and we pulled the intake and heads! Also, how do you remove the steering shaft to pull the driver’s side header out and to move the steering rack?

Next up: Driver’s side header, radiator, front accessories, steering rack, balanced, and hopefully down to the cam,

I have everything on the way minus cam.

Driver side header comes in from the bottom after reading 3-4 different types of instruction. Here’s a great vid on the steering rack.

Lash caps are on intakes only for OE heads. They protect the Ti intake stem from being disintegrated by the rocker pad.

What happens when you dont run lash caps on OE Ti intakes... https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...long-post.html

Ah ok, they must of been on the intake valves then of course. I bagged them and do I have to oil soak them before they go back on as well like the lifters and rockers?

I have seen the aftermath of no lash caps, definitely not doing that!

Steering rack is a 11mm bolt. Take that all the way out and you can wiggle the steering knuckle off.

You don't have to oil soak the caps, just make sure you put them back on on the correct valves.

We loosened the bolt and was not sure on if the steering rod could slide back or not, now that that I know I will do that.

Ok cool, lash caps on intake valves only.

Curious...Were they supposed to be run with lash caps, or did you do so for precautionary reasons? If no, I assume you might have had to run different length pushrods for intake versus exhaust?

Thanks for posting! However, watching this video definitely shows me that dropping the cradle is way easier!

I am curious as well. I am measuring for my PR’s anyway though.

No problem and thank you for posting the video! Unfortunately I am going to try to not drop the cradle as I have been told you can do it all without dropping the cradle. I guess I will find out haha!

Measured all push rods, used the same. Was never told not to run them or that they had hardened tips, so did it. I was one of the first people to get those.

Make sure you have 18mm wrench, or at best two. The steering rack is held by 18mm nut/bolts to the cradle. I had to go to home depot (closest to me) and purchase two 18mm wrenches as they don't come in most sets.

Thank you for the heads up!

Alright, will do that when I get there. I will move my jackstands to the two front jacking points.

Well, my heads are sold, how do you guys package them? I only have this long box that barely fits them and stuffed tons of newspaper and paper towels down in there. If need be I will pick up something else tomorrow. The second picture is of how thick of padding I have on top. Here are some pictures:

Might be easier/safer to cut that box in half and tape them together side by side.

The box is barely wide enough and I do not think side by side will work. I sent the buyer pictures to see what he thought and tomorrow I may just drop by the store and grab some boxes.

No, cut it in half where they meet in the middle. Seal them up separately in the boxes and then tape the two boxes together.

You an see how AHP packages them here:
Jump to right around the 7:00 mark.

I really liked how they protected them. In a plastic bag and then wrapped in large bubble wrap and then sandwiched between styrofoam sheets. The way shipping handlers toss boxes around, I'd do that. But then...you will likely have insurance.
