Default How could any car be faster than mine!

As crazy as it sounds, I can’t imagine anything going faster than mine at 505rwhp. Ok I admit it, just ignorance I guess. I have had my car less than a year and have not had it on the track, or been able to run through the gears, no place to let it out!! Try this summer to run it at PIR track. Can’t seem to wrap my head around newer Z06 with 638hp and even more now of 750hp. Have we reached a high limit now? I must not be used to mine yet it seems so fast. What seems next is not to raise HP but to make the car at least a 1000 pounds lighter and a better suspension and better tires.

Good luck dropping 1000lbs. I'll subscribe to that.

505 rwhp is fast, but some of us get carried away. If it seems fast to you, just enjoy the car as it is.

I agree with this.

Depending on driver skill, seat time, "racing environment", etc... there are plenty of 505rwhp cars that will outrun 650+rwhp cars...except maybe in a highway roll-on, where very little "skill" is required, and more intestinal fortitude and willingness to take chances with local law enforcement. Oh...and yes, a 1/2 mile or 1 mile straight run. I've certainly seen 500rwhp cars beat a 700rwhp car in a short 1/4 mile run...driver skill, car setup has a lot to do with it.

If you can drive your car confidently and to/near its limit, then there aren't _that_ many cars out there faster than yours. This board may make it seem like there are. This board would be a tiny fraction of typical Vette owners.

I will be honest and tell you that I cannot drive my TT C5Z (which I've owned for 16 years) remotely close to its limit. The car is just scary, and like you, I don't have a lot of places to put it through its paces. So another guy with a less powerful car, that can drive it harder, will probably outrun me at times.

My C6ZR1 is not as fast as my C5, but it is easier to drive fast... if that makes sense. ????

Just enjoy it, and if you get bored... you can always mod it a little more at a time. That's what makes the hobby fun.

First off your 505 bhp is actually about 440 rwhp not 505. If its a stock Z06.

Zero to 60 in about 3.8 seconds or 4 seconds is QUICK but Zero to 60 in 2.8 or so like in a new 650hp Z06 is FAST.

theres plenty of room for your stock car to be really fast car. Stock C6 Z06 is a kick *** car and plenty fast for most.

enjoy it.

Straight-line acceleration you get used to 500WHP pretty quickly unless you've never drive anything faster than your mom's Camry, previously. It's pretty amazing (and disheartening) how quickly you get acclimated with more power/acceleration, and eventually need more.

Many times on a road course (and occasionally on the road) I wish I had more Tourqe and HP..

I belive Mark Donohue said, "..until you have wheelspin from the exit of one corner to the entry of the next, you don't have enough..".

That said, there is something to maintaining a balance (grip, handling, braking, etc.).

My car is low 700's on E-85 and has drag radials. When I take people for rides and hit second gear from about a 50-55mph roll they just cannot believe how fast the car feels. After only two months I'm getting ready to do a cam and 14%od lower. I'm sure a few months after that I'll be doing an aux fuel pump and going from a 2.55 to a 2.3 upper.

I do believe the limit for me will be the point I need to remove the big brakes in the back for traction, that's where I'll draw the line.

Back to your point, unless you are rolling around the toll roads of Texas when guys are out roll racing, the chance of running up a car that can beat your z06 (and being in a place safe enough to find out) is going to be extremely rare.

Get the Cup wheels and matching tires, in Cup sizes, and you won't feel so fast any more.
You'll be the same speed, of course, just not spinning as much and ready for more power.

Like the others here said, it is situational. From launch, no complaints. But I have street situations where I could use double the torque and power.

Thanks man! Actually my Michelin’s grip pretty good but not when it’s cold like in the 40s and 50s but all tires are probably that way.
