Replacement Front Spitter, Where to Purchase?
I recently just got an 07 Z06 and the front splitter on it is chewed up in a few spots. I've seen quite a few different ZR1 replacements, but understand that the bumper will deform at higher speeds if I don't install the reinforcement bracket. Currently, I have no desire to remove the entire fascia for the install, so I'd like to stick to the original plastic Z06 splitter for now. I'd also like to avoid carbon fiber or fiberglass since those materials aren't as forgiving as the plastic ones are.
I searched quite a bit and found some old threads from years back where GM Parts Direct was selling it for about $150 shipped. Currently, it's about $215, plus another $165 for shipping.
Surprisingly enough, the only place I found it for less was Walmart online for $199 + free shipping.
Walmart Splitter
Anyone know whether that Walmart part is legit or not (I'm assuming it's not a genuine part)? Or, does anyone know a good place to buy the replacement splitter at a 'reasonable' price?
Thanks ahead of time for the help/advice.

Few things:
1) That is not a splitter. It is a valence panel (front bumper lip).
2) You can get it from Trunk Monkey for $263. https://www.trunkmonkeyparts.com/oem...bC12OC1nYXM%3D
3) As it is a cheap piece of plastic, I suspect any Chinese knock-off will be equally cheap but still work. Guys have luck with the knock-off ones from ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fits-06-13-....c100005.m1851
4) The ZR1 splitter is functional, plus looks good.
5) The ZR1 splitter will work without the reinforcement up to about 125mph. At high speeds the bumper cover will begin to deform. Unless you actually race the car, I suspect this will not happen to you.
6) Removal of the front bumper cover/fascia is simple and easy. I have mine off all the time for various reasons. A 12 year old can do it.

Have you considered the Chinese knock-off ZR1 splitter and adding a little nicer look to your Z06? My OEM piece was a bit chewed up when I purchased my 08Z last year. I opted for the cheap Chinese knock-off splitter from ebay @ $165 free shipping. Fitment wasn't bad at all. It comes in raw ABS and matches the current OEM one without painting it.

You can get a ZR1 replacement splitter that fits better than OEM from ACS composites. They also have side skirts that are better and less expensive than OEM. I have them on my Z06. Fit and finish is exceptional. If your car is a true Z07 it should already have the reinforcement piece installed from the factory as does the ZR1.

subbed because i need to replace my OE splitter too.
why post stuff like this? just to show off your crap? come on. he explicitly stated what he was looking for and why he didn't want to do carbon or something else less drivable.

Thanks for the feedback all.
itomh,
I like that option. Got a few questions.
1. Is that the one you need to drill the holes for or did yours come pre-drilled? No issue either way, just want to make sure I'm looking at the same one you got.
2. How much lower does that hang from the original? I love the look at the ZR1 splitter and skirts, but curious how much worse scraping will be with it (I realize it's cheap, but would like to avoid it becoming a luxury tax for driving the car).
3. Did you get the knock-off side skirts/mud flaps as well? If so, fit and look still solid?
08 Atomic-Z,
The ACS stuff looks great, but definitely not in the budget for this year. Bought the car a month ago and just got new wheels/tires and pad/rotors, so this year's budget is more or less blown for anything expensive.
This is my first Vette, so I'm still getting up to speed a bit here. By Z07, are you just referring to the year of the Z06? Guessing I'll have to research a bit more to figure out if the reinforcement piece is there or not.

If you want to buy them for me, I'm in. Beautiful ride, btw.

They are really not that bad in terms of price. Aesthetically pleasing, durable,... Much better than the flimsy stock piece.

I have purchased two of these from WSA Auto on ebay since December. The first one came with holes all pre-drilled in the same place as OEM. I added a couple more holes for extra support and better fitment. The second one I purchased, also from WSA didn't come with pre-drilled holes. So, take your OEM off car and flip it back to back, line up starting at the center, clamp it down and work you way to both ends, clamping as you go, then mark and drill splitter holes. You can use your OEM screws, I opted to use new self tapping screws so they will all be the same.

I didn't measure it but it looks no lower then the original OEM one I took off. if it is lower, maybe 1/2", again, I can't see it. It's never scraped a speed bump or my driveway curb as I go in or out. Same with the side skirts. The side shirts are no lower then the lowest part of you door rocker. The side skirts basically flare out with a slight downward curve. They just jive the allusion of looking lower. The only con is that when you get out of car, make sure you plant your foot out a bid further or you will clip the side skirt with the heel of your foot, I've never done it, nor my teen daughter but, I have to always remind my wife, which is why I didn't want them painted in the first place.
3. Did you get the knock-off side skirts/mud flaps as well? If so, fit and look still solid?
Yes, I did. The fit is not bad for what I paid for. The side skirts will either be pre drilled or not. either way it's no big deal. the only holes that you need to be concerned about are the ones just behind the front tire. The odds are that these will not line up, again, not a problem. If you do side skirts, mount the mud flaps first and work your way to the front and everything will fall into place.

Thanks for all the info, itomh. My Z is Silver as well, so that picture helps a lot.
For the splitter, that was exactly how I planned to drill the holes if necessary, thanks for confirming the approach. Also, thanks for the advice on the skirts/flaps.
I just got a set of Forgestar CF5V's in gloss black and plan to smoke the markers and taillights, so I think these will end up looking great and not break the bank.

$200+ for a flimsy piece of plastic. Talk about a corvette TAX. Mine was a little messed up when I got the car. Some glue sand paper and mat black paint fixed mine. May look into the ebay ZR1 splitter.
