Default Lifter wheel in question with pic...

So while I am swapping my heads for some ported AHP performance ms90 heads I went ahead and inspected the lifters. I have 1 lifter wheel in question it has a small scratch minute groove in the wheel. More likely the cam is the same I think, hard to tell looking inside the bore. It was running fine this way so not sure if I should spend more $$ on new lifters if the cam is the same. It spins fine and no other discepancy in question. Here is the pic.

I would replace it. And inspect the cam. A new lifter is only ~$20.

10-4 on that, is it possibly to buy only 1 lifter and not the entire set?

Inspect the cam?, not sure if I have ample time to pull it out as this is my daily and I’m borrowing my buddy’s car. You don’t think it’s minimal or even not worth going through the trouble of that?

34k miles on stock Z06

Just shine a light down the lifter bore.

Yes you can buy a single lifter, for about $16 last time I checked.

That's what I've always done. Never had issues.

Yeah I called LME engines and they told me I didn’t have to let them soak over night. I could just grab and install. I will lube it up tho.

If it was me, for sure replace the lifter and I would pull the valley cover and check the cam thoroughly. Especially when you have this much of the motor torn down already.

Went to 3 dealers today and found a Ls7 lifter that was priced at $32 other stealer wanted $60 each. Small
towns seem to treat their people better. Anyhow, I checked the bore again in regards to the cam with
a stronger light. Couldn’t see any scratch or burr on it.

I sumberged the lifter in oil for 1hr and then installed. I’m hoping it doesn’t take long for it to pump up
on initial start up. Question. The oil port doesn’t matter if it goes forward or to the rear if I’m not mistaken?

There was a thread on here a year or so ago, and I believe the overwhelming conclusion was that lifter orientation didn't matter...just that you should be uniform (all facing same way for each bank), so that if you ever disassemble, and resemble, they all go back in the same way/rotate the same way.

Upon disassembly I noticed some were forward and some rear. I tried to keep most if not all in the same position. However, Your suggestion makes sense, thank you MTP for chimmin in. Your input is always appreciated.

Seen the same thing on many ls engines I’ve had apart particularly ones with low miles can you feel itbwith your finger, usually you can’t...After the engine gets more on it you get a wide wear pattern and those marks will disappear. At first I was concerned and called a couple cam people all told me it’s just a tracking pattern. Since then I’ve seen 4-5 low mileage ls motors with that pattern and they all went back together and run just fine
