The reputation of the corvette z06!
I like many others have been reading for months now about valve issues that some have experienced that has led to catastrophic engine failure. I have stated many times since i have joined this forum that my HEART goes out to who this has happened to. But after this last weekend i felt the need to speak out for the 98plus % that has not had this happen with there chevrolet corvette zo6! Im sorry if this get anyone upset with me.BTW.( im not useing any names here). But when someone says that the zo6s reputation has been DESTROYED because of this, and many other inflammatory remarks about parking there car, selling there car. This has gotten way out of line in my opinion. The ZO6 reputation is not being destroyed by this issue. Its the(some) people who are useing this forum(and others) who are destroying the reputation of this amazing automobile! After years of saving and hard work, im looking out the window from my office and i see my 2009 Z06. And she is hands down the most beautiful automobile i have ever owned. If anyone wants to chime in here and say a few words about there amazing corvette ZO6! You can do it here! TODAY! Year, color, options, mods, miles, where you race your Z, road racing or drag racing.. to all the steadfast ZO6 owners, no matter who you are
I feel it is time i added the( C6) Z06 to my Thread from 09/10/2012......... Refer to post 163....

As far as it goes for me my 08 Z06 (Black on Black original owner ) has been a great vette with NO ISSUES !! Out of 7 corvettes that I have had this 08 Z06 is far better that all the rest. I try not to worry about the valve drop issue and hope for the best and yes I have thought about trading it in for another vette a 2013 Z06 but it 's hard for me to part ways with the one I have now !!

I agree with you I read all the post's and there is so much negative talk.
I don't know where you can find a car for what I paid for mine I must say mine is completetly stock.I can jump in mine take a 3k mile round trip to ohio and back average 28mpg and go 190mph if I had the chance or wanted to legaly.I have 42k on mine and the only thing I have had to do other than normal stuff oil and tires is have the gas cap replaced.I guess I'll consider myself lucky according to some but I'll take it and keep on truckin

2011 Carbon Edition in Inferno Orange. Great Car! Very impressed with it and if valve problem shows up even after the warranty runs out I will make the necessary repairs/upgrades and keep on driving.

Do yourself a favor and sign up with a driving school that puts instructors in the car with you and find out what your beast can do. WARNING: CAN BE EXTREMELY ADDICTIVE.

2011, Z06/Z07, CFZ, 3LZ...flat out the most awesome car I have ever owned, going all the way back to 1970!! I don't care about Mustang GT500's or, Porsche or Ferrari's, or Vipers, etc. It is the Iconic American sports car with a 427 in it...there is nothing else!

No problems here with my 2008 Z06.
And the depreciation on the Z06 is phenomenal. So the market doesn't think there is some catastrophic issue either.

2007 Z purchased new off the showroom floor 12/26/07. Now has 37K.Driven in showers,no snow or salt.Usually put away Nov. thru April. All trouble free miles except for a catalytic convertor at 12K. No sewing machine noises,no oil consuption.Spirited street driving only with a few revlimiter runs. Every bit as dependable as my DD Audi.

I am in process of purchasing a new to me, very well taken care of, 2007 Z06 and nothing I have read is going to stop it. The Z is simple an amazing vehicle and the last of the 427ci displacement, IMO. Yes, I may consider having the heads done in the future, but for now, I will drive and enjoy. It is going to be an incredible 2K mile drive home from the current owner's location to mine. I'm more worried about rock chips in the paint on the drive than I am of anything else......

I love my car as well, have no plans to get rid of it. Bone stock and will stay that way.
I believe I was the one who made the specific comment you mentioned about the car's reputation being destroyed , mainly in part because I do agree with you in that I think 98% of these cars will never have a problem.... however I agreed to stop debating those who disagree with that stance, and have since thrown the towel in with arguing in attempt to have this place be more civil. We all share a passion for these cars.
Trying to change someone's mind about this issue is like arguing politics. Both camps have been insulting and nasty, and it's gotten blown out of proportion on both ends.
I've decided as I said to stop debating and just focus on the "why" it is happening to the unlucky folks who have had a motor blow, or the "what " is the root cause. Asking questions and trying to find data vs.. trying to prove each other wrong or right.
2007 Black 2LZ with 24k on the clock. Bought in 2010.

2006 LeMans Blue 2LZ. 5th owner, don't have any history on the car. As far as I know, the only engine mod is a CAI. Have had it now for 10 months and no problems. I don't track or race. After 8 other Corvettes, this is by far the best one yet.

My 08, bought new, is the best car I have ever owned, and I had owned a number of cars including a Ferrari.

Your post was very well versed and very true, good job Don.
I'm the 2nd owner of an early '06 Z it just turned 16,000 miles and it is just purely a show car. Only take it out to car shows & cruise ins.
The original owner took it to Tony's corvette shop to have the heads done (this was before any reported valve issues) and a cam installed as well as other goodies. This car has never seen a track of any kind & never will as long as my name is on the title. No reported problems ever couldn't be happier.

Good thread. If the top came off of the Z06 - I would have one. Oh - Maybe I do - sorta..

I personally can't wait to get another one. Already have the car picked out, and it's been less than 30 days since I traded in the last one.
All that's left is finding the money to pay for it.
