Default New member/owner from Texas!

Hello everyone! Just picked up a 2012 Arctic White Z06 ( 1 of 39! ) I live in the Houston area. Other than the muffler, its stock! Yes, even the valve guides ........... I wanted to make a post while im stock, and because im new to the forum, so i can post the progress of my little setup Monday ( 4/23/18 ) im sitting down with a fellow friend and shop owner to discuss my wants and to get things on paper and ordered. For now im thinking the basic stuff- ported MSD, ported heads with fixed guides, 102 NW TB, corsa extreme axle back, TSP 1 7/8 headers to 3'' xpipe, i think a gt21 Cam but cant decide ( springs, retainers ect...) and welds/tire setup. Going to be a badass car and its been a long time coming. Im a previous owner of a 06 GTO. Was the perfect first race car to get used to a LS setup. Im already in love with the car like i knew i would be, its perfect :-) magnetic ride, grey calipers, black headlights, black spider wheels, 18XXX miles, carbon fiber fenders/floor panels...... This car is absolutely amazing. Thanks for looking!

Welcome to the forum. I’m moving this over to the C6 ZR1 & Z06 area to save you from having to repeat this in that part of the forum. Good luck with the changes you want to do to the car - sounds like you have things planned out very well.

I'd recommend American Racing headers over the TSP headers. The TSP sacrifice a lot down low in the areas where you'll be driving 90% of the time. Not to mention the hit or miss fitment issues.

Other than that, good luck with your build. Houston has an awesome street scene.

Holy hell, I am soooo jealous of the year/color. Welcome.

Agreed with the guy above me, go with ARH, and do 2" instead of 1-7/8. A couple recent threads and insight from CPR in Mesa, AZ show that 2" is the way to go. I recently put Kooks on my car and wouldn't recommend that brand to my worst enemy.

Good looking car! I love the white.

Personally, ARH 2” headers. They are more $$ but fit and function are 2nd to none. I would also skip that cam. Really hard on the valve train. Lots of info on here about it. I would talk to Carlos Allen or Pat G about a cam. Cam Motion is another place to.

Good luck and enjoy that car!

Good call about the cam. Totally missed that. There are much better cams out there that are less aggressive and make more power.

Skip TSP headers.
Select a different cam. Carlos is great, Pat G is amazing, or plenty of other good places for a solid cam. Comp has been amazing working a new cam for me. Billy/Chris know their cam stuff like no one else.

Thanks for the reply! I've heard that 2'' headers are the best for 800+hp cars, which i plan on one day. But i think ill be under 800 for a little while. Would you recommend the 1 7/8 ARH? Also, what cam recommendations do you have for me? I really appreciate the info!

2" have no disadvantages besides price. Buy once and be done. They gain power up top with no loss of low end.
