Seriously wtf....Mast heads won't clear alternator 😡
So I bought a heads and cam kit using Mast ls3 heads specifically for my zr1 and finally getting around to putting things back together when I get to the alternator bracket that just won't fit...needs some grinder clearancing...then I go put the valve cover on only to realize there is no possible way the alternator is go8ng to fit in the original location!!! I've seriously had enough with the issues of modding this car... has anyone using Mast heads ran into this problem?
Altsrnator sits over the valve cover on stock heads...these heads are so tall its inpossible!

from a quick search looks like you might need custom vale covers and some grinding or massaging certain areas. Hope it works out

I just was using that valve cover as a mock up. Didn' matter which I used still needed to grind on my bracket. I ended up spacing the alternator 1" and will have to find a longer belt now...
but now I've encounter head ache number 3 with these heads...ps pump won't allow driver side valve cover on and I' really unsure about how much material if any of have to grind off the cover and or back of pump... anyone in here actually have these heads and did the work themselves???

so back to work on the car and a major FML happened... still grinding as carefully as possible to make this crap fit and i friggen punched through my valve cover!!! the sad part is i STILL need more clearancing!!!! ive been grinding away at the back of the PS pump and now after punching through my cover im really worried about the pump casting...still need about 1/8" from somewhere and clearly the VC has reached more than its limit..wish these things werent cast so i gcould just heat them up and massage them

Burning Brakes
First things first...No matter the outcome of this situation, please get yourself some wheel and tire insurance. I got it when I bought in 2016, worried about about wheels. I got two sets, no bends, just three tire replacements.
Where did hubby drive for those other 700 miles?
As for dealer blame, there are plenty of warnings for tire inflation. It shows up on On Star and the My Chevy app. Many on he forum say they aren’t worth it but I disagree. The last flat tire I had, the first I found out about it was from On Star email notifications since the car was parked in the driveway. I would find it hard to believe that the dealer didn’t check one of the most basic readings before delivery.
No matter, good luck and get that insurance.
