Anyone with a stock c6z06 run a stock c7z06?

Normally aspirated and forced induction each have advantages and disadvantages. On the street, what ultimately matters most is the experience. Keith offered an insightful assessment that seems consistent with the impressions conveyed above:
I am fortunate enough to own both a C6 Z06, slightly tweaked externally to 500 whp and a stock C6 ZR1. There"s no denying that in the pursuit of ultimate horsepower it is hard to beat supercharging. However NA horsepower is far more satisfying to drive, at least to me, until it is no longer practical to get enough of it to satisfy your needs.
I really enjoy driving my ZR1 with its abundance of power and very well spaced gear ratios that minimize the RPM drop in the upper three gears. Its stock exhaust is very satisfying but the lack of an overdrive ratio make robust highway driving far less so. A 7th gear may be in my future. I could be crazy but I swear I can feel the 150 plus lbs added weight over the Z when it comes to the twisties.
The Z on the other hand is pure joy. The idle roll puts the supercharged motor to shame. The extra 500 RPM of redline may not sound like much but it feels more like it pulls harder and harder forever. I honestly can't tell the difference in speed between the two cars until 4th gear arrives. The Z06 front end feels noticeably lighter under hard acceleration than I feel in the ZR1. I find myself needing way more Z06 fixes than I do ZR1. My best description I keep repeating is the Z06 just feels more Raw, more the race car.
My answer to the supercharge question would be when you have tapped out all the NA horsepower the wonderful LS7 has available, only then would I look for a supercharged solution.

This is a pretty funny video of a race between the two cars and shows the frustration of a C7Z owner getting his *** handed to him by the older car with less HP.

That car sounds sweet. Cammed and modded? What kind of rwhp is it putting down? That roll on was no contest.
To the other guy's post - the former race was a 1/2 mile, so pretty long before the C6 overtakes the C7 Z.

Former Vendor
Overall, CZ7 > C6Z
HOWEVER, C6Z is much more consistent and it does not weigh a ton in comparison.
The C7Z can be a true monster due to its FI nature, but the C6Z is monster slayer with simple bolts-ons; even with a baby cam. The C7Z is simply too heavy and it does not like playing for long - it wants to take timeouts
The C6Z will run on the big end much more consistent after repeated runs. Dont believe me, try running your C7Z back and forth, especially in the middle of July vs C6Z and come back to tell us what happened.
I like them both, but prefer the raw nature of the C6Z. It would have been cool if GM would have built an NA version of the C7Z - sort of like a GT3 RS. The know they tried with the GS, but that **** came with the so so LT1 engine when compared with the LS7 found in the Camaro and C6Z's.
Image, an LS7 powered C7Z stage 2 or perhaps stage 3 with an AUTO and ~ 3300lbs...that would be a killa. Add a widow cam, bolt-ons, higher CR, E85 and a nice converter
To the OP, I hear ya. I too went through the same scenario. And I too voiced my opinion in the C7Z section - those guys were ready to run me out of this planet - even though I'm a vendor and previous owner of both [C6Z & CZ7] gens.
Oh well....
Thanks,
Carlos

For an all around car c6 is much better.... period, technology and interior c7......I guess if you have both you really know the cars limits and benefits...racing its been proven c6z is 12 13 years old but the ls7 an extraordinary motor. But if your ready to get a new car c7 is not a bad choice base or z...The c6z is and will be the complete last refined that hotwheels supercar....

Reason why the C6Z will be a legend in the future. Low numbers and the car that came with the monster LS7.
Can't see prices going down much lower than they are now.
Going to be a legend!!

I have been watching the values and they may have bottomed or close to it. Classic looks and the last big N/A motor will make them desirable now and in the future. The L7S is the ticket because it's a big displacement in a small block, so light weight.

my mods 08 z06 full exhaust, halltech killer bee and dyno tune on 91 octane(maf and ve table) i did add some octane booster to mine, but since im not tuned for it, i figured it didnt have any effect on the outcome.
did about 10 or so good runs. Video has 3 good ones. You could tell his aero kit hurt him up top.

Ya we were both surprised. I put my go pro facing forward and he put his facing rearward in anticipation of him pulling me hard. We did over 10 runs and if we did a 40 i would pull him pretty good. He coundnt find a good gear to start in with the a8. From a 60 it was better for him but I would reel him in at the top of 3rd.
The guy is my friend and a fellow corvette enthusiast. We were both shocked by the outcome.
my car was dyno tuned on 91, maf and ve, over the summer to 471 at the wheels. I believe that this number was very conservative after talking to other z06 ls7 owners who have been on the same dyno with aftermaket cams that only put them in 520s at the wheel.
we plan on going from a dig in a few weeks. He should pull me pretty good since the a8 is great in the 1/4.
