Rear hatch pinching weatherstripping when opening/closing
As you can see in the video, when I open the hatch and then close it, it pinches the weatherstripping and is starting to pull it to the point the factory glue is failing.
See video to help explain.
Anybody else with this problem? Is the hatch adjustable to prevent this, or is this normal to happen after almost 10 years?

^^ This or get a can of spray silicone. Which is good for rubber as well.

Yes hatch has some adjustment that may help.

I bought replacement weatherstripping since it has completely torn. Has anyone successfully replaced without removing the hatch? Is removing the hatch as simple as unhooking the hydraulic struts and unbolting from the halo?

Mine is shredded, and the part number I bought for it to replace looks completely different than what’s on the car. Luckily it doesn’t leak so until I pull my wrap off (and possibly pull the hatch off) I’m not too worried. Yeah it doesn’t look nice but doesn’t leak! Let me know if you find the correct piece and how it worked

The weatherstrip is part # 15250758.
I was able to replace without removing the hatch.
Rip off the old one and spend hours removing the old adhesive via goo gone, 3m adhesive remover, etc.
Once done, I marked the centerline of the new strip and started installing from the middle all the way out to one side and then the other side. Most difficult part was getting it set correctly around the hinges but wasn't too difficult.

Sorry to go gravedigging, but this is happening to me now. (Tried searching the forums but can't seem to find any other relevant info).
My first weatherstrip started cracking after 6 years, had it replaced at the dealer and it was fine for another 8 years until this same pinching happened to me and it tore the weatherstrup off. I was able to replace the weatherstrip myself by removing the halo and carefully removing and reapplying.
Now, its happening again only after a few months. Is there something else going on here like the rear hatch being out of alignment?
Seeing as removing the halo and removing the old glue was such a pain, I want to see if there is something else out of whack before I try it again.

Thanks for the response. I guess I can try to remount the weather strip higher up so if there is some interference with the rear glass it does not scrape the new strip off. Very frustrating that my last installation only lasted a few months and I think I dd everything right including cleaning off all the old residue completely.
I can't even imagine doing this without removing the halo : O just the elbow grease needed to remove old gunk was a backbreaker.
