loud brakes
I just purchased a 2011 z06 with 4ooo miles, it has 1 piece brake pads but has a very loud squeal when I stop slow. Can I replace them with padlets on a direct swap

Burning Brakes
Yes, but the one piece are better in my opinion, maybe you just need to clean them? (probably got dirt in them)

Melting Slicks
I just watched a video the other day on installing the one piece pad. The retaining clip is removed. It was on YouTube. I just bought my 08 Z06 last Thursday with 25k on it. The brakes are squeeky as hell. I'm just going to swap out the pads and rotors.

I think it depends on the pads, but I have used at least 3 different brands of 1-piece pads in my Z (18/19" wheels) and they all worked with the OEM anti-rattle clip. For track work I usually don't run the anti-rattle clip, on the street I do. With a nice sounding aftermarket exhaust and full HCI I doubt it would make a difference whether I used it or not.

The spring clips are critical in keeping the brake pad square to the rotor surface and ensuring that the pads slide smoothly along the pins. The spring clips also assist in reducing the noise inside the caliper
Carbotech 1 piece pad retains the spring clips.

Much of the time pads squeal because they have glazed over from easy use. Essentially you re-bed them.
Do five 60-20 hard stops without getting into the ABS, then five 80-30 stops followed by 10-15 minutes of driving with minimal brake use.

Yeah man I know there are some street pads that are quite, just thought that sticker was funny. I haven’t had my vette long and the break squeal was one of the first questions I had lol. Knocking of the glaze does seem to help in my opinion but it’s temporary. I’ll probably go with a cleaner/less noisy street pad when I replace mine though.
